IMDB ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0402344 ) Says:
Quote:
Plot Outline: A young man at odds with his society's mandatory death sentence for all those turning 21 plots a daring escape on the eve of his fateful birthday
So now it's 21 and not 30? I wonder who the target audience of this movie is...

it's 21 in the book and it covers the whole planet
it's 30 in the movie and only covers the city... those that make it out side the city's lifeclocks turn off and go back to being clear white

I think it's pretty clear that the new Logan's Run movie will more closely follow the books.

IMDB is not always accurate since any registered user can input data (there was a huge uproar about a hoax posting of cast list for the first episode of second season of Lost when Samuel Jackson and Tina Wesson - Survivor Australia winner - were listed as key players).
On the other hand, there have been other confirmations that the new movie will go back to the roots of the book. The new movie started negotiations back in 1997 and DiCaprio was being considered (but he's out of the age range now). But it hasn't even started filming yet, so this ARG may not be a promotional stunt - in fact, it could be a grassroots (ala Metacortechs) attempt, or still Virtuquest (but it's starting to not feel like VQ now).
Here are a couple more references that disscuss the new movie and a nice comparision of the book to the movie, even listing the tv series episodes (which we can probably totally discount).

So if this is not about the remake, the PMs really love Logan's Run, huh?

Konashark saw the DVD at Fry's Electronics for $6.
It's really old. We watched it tonight.
Lifeclocks (in the movie) are:
white = 0-8
yellow = 9-15
green = 16-23
red = 24-30
The only "extra" was a featurette about the "making of" Logan's Run with cheesy narration (it played like one of those Disney documentaries us older folks will remember from elementary film reels).
The theatrical trailer was also pretty bad (compared to current standards). Pretty amazing they showed the climax explosions from the end of the film. And really bad narration.
For it's time, it was pretty decent special effects and great sets. Konashark enjoyed the lack of undergarments for the costumes.
Something we noted that might be needed later: Procedure 033-03 was the assignment Logan 5 was given by the computer at SMHQ.

Yeah, but the trailer DOES include a snippet of the "lost" footage of the film's original opening sequence (Francis-7 blasting a Runner into a fountain in front of a thrilled crowd). I still hope that some exec at MGM is going to one day find all the deleted scenes that were all reportedly destroyed.
Did you notice in the "making of" that the model wearing the prototype Sandman uniform (which they thankfully didn't use) looks very much like David Hasselhoff...so much so that it most likely IS David Hasselhoff?

This is a little off topic, but am I the only one sick of all the remakes these days? Man, I wish we could have some original writers that would create new classics rather than reaping money off the old ones.
This game is awesome enough to make me see the Logan's Run remake, but I'm still really against the whole thing.

Old movies and even remakes are great on a general basis. Some remakes are better some are not but all came from someone who believed in the original which is cool.

Is it possible that the film industry has been tapped?
