Oh nothing special, (i guess?... you never know around here i suppose), in a swedish role-playing magazine called Sverox. They brought up the weird plastic cards of redkore and the old "The beast". Also some basic tips and how to get started, there was the adress for unfiction.com and i just checked it out.

Can you provide a link to the article? I'd be interested to see what they said.

It's print only, unfortunately. Our pal Zeitgeist wrote it...maybe he has an electronic version of the text he could post for us?

Interview with the Game Care Taker of Hollywood Haunts

Quote:
Hello Sunny Du Pree here

I am reporting to you semi live from the living room of the Game Care Taker of Hollywood Haunts. First off I would like to introduce myself. I am the former hostess of the fabulous Good Morning Push talk show. I say former because when Dwight Sloman was arrested that town dried up and blew away. He was my boss and my only source of good coffie mugs (special black market prices) and so I am forced to be a roving reporter working on contract. I love the travel but I sure do miss Mels Meat platter especially his Kielbasa...*sigh*
Anyway I am here to introduce Matt Lee to this little ARG community of ours. We are sitting here in front of his computer surrounded by crumpled bits of paper and empty jello pudding snack cups.

Say hello Matt

Matt: Hello Matt

Sunny: lelellelel Now most ARG creators are called PuppetMasters (PM) by the game players. Why is it important to YOU be called Game Care Taker (GCT) instead of PM?

Matt: I find the terminology of "PM" offensive. I created the words or shall we say the game, the players breath life into the game, they bring it to life. They deserve more credit then being called a puppet, with out them there is no game. So I feel GAME CARE TAKER is more appropriate

Sunny: Well that is wonderful how you respect your players! How long have you been in the world of args and what was your inspiration for creating such games?

Matt:I came to ARG a year ago, invited by my sister to play Noah Body. Noticed that we kept in touch more and lines of communication open drastically, but with game ending I had to do something to keep that alive and to keep my new friends together and active, thus I started writing small games.

Sunny: Is Hollywood Haunts your first experience hosting a game on the internet and how did you come up with the idea?

Matt: Actually HH is the second in the series, Dream House was the first, it has already run it's course.

Sunny: I understand that you went from 23 players to 54 in a matter of two days. Is that twisting your melon?

Matt: Shall we say "the melon" is now puree.

Sunny: What kind of puzzles can players expect and what format are they given in?

Matt: The entire game is created in Microsoft Word .doc formatted. I'm just an average Joe, thus nothing fancy around here. Puzzles to be expected? It would be easier to answer what sort of puzzles that aren't used.

Sunny: What is the cost and are there prizes awarded?

Matt: There basically is no cost involved, except for time. What time the player wants to invest is up to them. As for prizes, I have something up my sleeve for the first person that solves HH., nothing major just something out of appreciation and there MIGHT be a few small surprises along the way.

Sunny: When does the pre-game begin?

Matt: At 7pm EST Sept the 10, thats tonite.
I just wanted to add that there are many old players from Noahboddy and CTW as well as some newbies and lurkers in the game. So come on over and check us out in chat we are already having a good time.
Here is the link to SIGN UP

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HollywoodHaunts/?yguid=134086532

once you sign up you can get to chat from that home page.

Sunny: How do you play?

Matt: In short The group will receive the start up entry pages automatically; then all other rooms will be found within the files section. All solutions for the pages issued should be posted to the message board. You may post as a group or as an individual, the more postings, the better your odds that the correct response will be posted. This board will be monitored by no other than Duncan himself. Once a correct response is posted a poll will appear, at that time the group needs to vote for the next room to venture into. To allow fairness, each poll will stay posted for a two day period allowing time for all members to vote. The majority vote will then cause a new file to appear within the file section confirming that there was a correct answer posted. a complete list of rules can be found at

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HollywoodHaunts/files/

Sunny: Well I am looking at the clock and I can see that it is almost 9:15 and that means I have things to see and people to do...eep did I say that out loud?I think it must be that orange water I am drinking. In any case it was so very nice to meet you Matt I have heard so many good things about you and I am just glad to see its true

Matt: Thank you and I hope that people enjoy the game as much as I enjoyed making it.

Sunny: Well I look forward to seeing you all on the red carpet tonite at the Bijou. Dont forget to wear your tux and top hat. I will be sure to say hello to Duncan. I am so excited he is giving me an EXCLUSIVE!
And you fellow gamers be easy on Matt he is practically an ARG virgin so cut some slack if there is an actor that forgets his lines or if a piece of sceanery falls down.

till we meet again

Just for clarification, the term Puppet Masters referrs to the person(s) behind the game who are pulling the strings, so to speak, bringing the characters and story to life, not pulling strings to manipulate the players.

"I don't think that word means what you think it means." Wink

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

* * * * * * * HOLLYWOOD HAUNTS* * * * * * *
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Well what an investment.
I landed a gold mine once again!
Leaving the past behind,
Looking towards the future.

Yes, financial planning is on my mind,
Other income is a must!
Under planning retirement is a disaster!

Hold on to your seat,
Even now, I can't believe it,
Let me explain,
Please don't go!

Down near Hollywood and Vine,
Under a marquee called "BEJOU"
Now sits my current investment.
Can I make it a go?
And make myself a million?
Not in a million years, you think!

Alas, another DREAM comes true.
Gonna give it my all!
Again I can be on stage,
In the public eye,
Never underestimating the sound of APPLAUSE!

Maybe the show will be a hit,
Although it may be a flop in the making.
In time WE shall all know,
Leaving it to the audience to decide.

Hollywood Haunts is on the horizon,
Interweaving a spell on you all,
Me included!
