[?]ARGTalk

Okay, so I'm not one to be fooled too often, but that may be just the case after ARGTalk cut their overhyped radio show (scheduled for earlier tonight) short. In what sounded to be a well-rehearsed script read by professional voice actors, one of the ARGTalk writers was *gasp* kidnapped before the show went off the air.

For those who haven't been to ARGTalk before, it is a new-ish META site for the ARG community that popped up this year out of the blue. In the past week, stalker-esque comments have appeared and have been deleted, and one staff member vented their frustration at the site through a now-deleted comment. Do these actions suggest that this is really a carefully constructed game on the verge of bigger and better things?

Folks, I swear... if this is indeed a launch, then it's had many of us fooled for months. Go there and decide for yourselves.

(If this isn't a launch of some sort, and I end up looking silly... great vengeance and furious anger. Twisted Evil )

I had a bet with Nash Carey 2 weeks ago that this would indeed be a launch, and alot of this seemed too well scripted to be, well, normal. Especially how much they hyped the whole buyout thing. And once I heard the beginning to the show tonight... well... I feel confident. Lol.

So, I'm with you Jamesi. If this isn't a launch, you look like a fool and I lose money to Nash. I'd rather not see either occur. Very Happy

And I e-mailed ARG Talk, offering my aid. Just wanted to say that to get back on course with the topic.

Okay, dont take my SPEC to much to heart, but I listened to this, and I'll be damned if I didnt notice a few things:
1. ARGTalk has a very familiar voice actor.
2. I maintain that the audio production sounds VERY familiar. Bubblewrap aside, the treatment of the voices, the 'phone' effect, all have a DISTINCT "ILoveBees" sound to them. People dont normally do a phone effect that sounds quite like that, its usually different, and though a little higher quality, the overall timbre sounds a lot like a chatter.

Is 42 at it again? I've usually got an ear for these things. If not 42, then the audio engineer they used for bees has got himself a new gig.

Yeah, I'm listening to the "radio broadcast" now....

Completely scripted, and 100% professional voice acting.

This is a new ARG with high-production value.

My synopsis of the radio show

Just listened to the radio show, and here's my text synopsis of it:

People that were featured were Suzee (ARGS4EVER), OldTimer, and ARGTalk

Suzee was giving a report, she's driving, and someone almost ran her off the road. It was a guy.

Oldtimer had a rant about not agreeing that we're in the "golden time of ARGs"

He mentioned The Beast, Lockjaw, Chasing the Wish, and Metacortex, saying "what compares now to the quality of those games?"

Suzee found a place to pull off..

Suzee went to E3 and was asked by Old Timer if she got to talk to Mind Candy and the "perplexed city" thing

A guy followed her around, she thinks he slipped his card into her backpack when she wasn't looking. She said she took pictures of people on her PDA

Oldtimer asks Suzee if she met Elian Lee, Adrian Hon, or David Zarwosky (forgive my butchered spellings of those names, please)

Suzee says to hold on, there's running in the background, she yelps, she cries out, and a faded scream. We then hear walking, a door opens and closes, hear a guy sigh and make a grunt, then a car takes off.

At the end, Mantis from Project Ashcroft has a line.

So this leaves open for us to find:

1) The pictures on Suzee's PDA
2) The business card she was given
3) The identity of a man who ran her off the road, and possibly kidnapped her

Does anyone have the comments that "A Fan" made that have since been "Deleted" from ARGTalk's web site?

I'm thinking it could be either right now. ARG Talk did mention that they wanted to do a nice ARG to blow the genre away, and this could be their attempt at it, and they could still be classified as a meta site running an ARG. However, because alot of this seems "too coincidential", it could be a meta-site turning into an ARG, a hidden rabbithole. Very interesting.

And I don't believe this would be a 4orty-2wo production. While the effects sounded like ILB, the voice acting was not by a long shot. It was crisp, it was clear, but it didn't have the same radio drama style that ILB had with it. There was feeling in actors of ILB, and sometimes our friends at ARGTalk lacked the vocal feeling of fright or horror or what they were truely feeling. It seems like they fell flat a couple times, especially when Args4ever got kidnapped and they were shouting "Suzee! Suzee!" Very Happy I do believe 4orty-2wo is above voice acting such as that.

His voice

Denounced in chat mentioned that they could hear the guy say something before he gets into the car. So, I downloaded it, cropped out the section that Denounced was talking about and listend to it. All I could get was "Ahhh. Upfff". But can listen for yourself. I'm not getting anything else out of it.

It appears that Reemco loves bees: http://www.reemco.com/security/hive.html

And a beautiful part from their customer signup:
Quote:

Do you practice law, work for a law firm, or involve yourself with organizations that pursue class-action lawsuits?
Yes No

Do you work for a local, state or federal agency responsible for investigating frauds, crimes or protecting consumer safety?
Yes No

Alas, I have found people linking to Reemco as a "fun site" as far back as 2003.
