Anyone up for a game of Who's Who? Would anyone be willing to manage a Who's Who section for Acheron? I developed one for the semi-defunct-yet-undead-ARG, Search 4 Ed, and it helped keep all of the in-game characters straight by including brief bios, related websites, aliases, and ways to contact them. Also, after the debate regarding the guides, 3-o-7, the nine (who they were, who they weren't, etc.) in CTW, it made me "wish" for a reference such as this.
The only catch is, although I'd love to do it, commitments in this reality are preventing me from making others in this one.
So is anyone up for it?
If you want to see what I had done for S4E, you can find a sample here .

On top of this, I've received an email from adminSPLAT acheron.us with an offer of sorts.

Any willing sadists -- er, volunteers to maintain updated trail and guide sites? I'd even be willing to donate some space at guysguise.com for these trail/guide pages.

Instead of just one person taking on the load how about just adding a section for each character as they are found in the Quick Reference section. Whomever finds info first can add it there with link to appropriate post in other sections. Just like for websites etc.... that way everyone can help out... if you folks think it is a good idea perhaps someone can start the ones already found? Then as more information is acquired i.e. alias, ways to contact, relationships to other characters it could be added to the appropriate characters thread.
Just an idea

Isn't the link under Quick Reference Section that says Quick Reference a Trail? Oh I am so easily confused

I think, by a 'trail', the admin means a website apart from these forums. At least, if the Cloudmakers and Lockjaw trails are any indication of what the PMs are used to seeing.
yes, I did try to emulate this type of trail at Guysguise for CTW, and yes the time commitments overwhelmed me. Heck, it's not that only one person has to maintain these things either -- more than one person can have FTP access in order to update such a site.
I found in CTW that maintaining a trail in these forums is arduous and difficult. The setup of these forums, in my opinion, makes Quick Reference and Quickstart type pages easy to create and maintain. As for the trail and the guide, I think it's aesthetically more sound to host them on a separate page.
Opinions?

Yes, the wiki trail is available and anyone can add too or edit previously entered materials. The Wiki for CTW didn't see much use, but maybe we can make better use of the Wiki this time
Shall we set up a section of it for Dramatis Persona?

As a former Guide writer (Lockjaw), let me forwarn whomever takes this on to be prepared to spend at least an hour or so every day keeping things updated and current, if you want to maintiain your sanity. Otherwise, you'll just fall hopelessly behind.
And doing the final update is the toughest of all, once the game ends. Isn't that right, Space?

One thing I wanted to do at the start of CTW and didn't, but would like to do with Acheron is start a page of "bios" on each of the characters. There were times I wanted to find out something about a character but had to search through all the listings in the trail and it just took too long.
I was thinking of having a main page with a listing of all characters which would make it easier to keep it in alphabetical order. Then each of the names would be linked to their own bio page. I did something like this for a group of artists I was involved with a long time ago a have an idea on how to design it.
I've got the webspace, I figured I'd give this a try. If nothing else it will be a help to me to keep track of who did what and who knew whom, etc.

At least an hour. I'd say that if you don't check in with the boards and update at least a couple of times a day it will take a good 2 hours a night. Ugh. There were a couple of times where I couldn't get anything updated for 3 or 4 days for CTW and it took me a week to catch up completely. I'd say that two or more people should perhaps take the project on and be each others backup. I found it hard to enjoy CTW sometimes because I had to pick between doing my daily update or trying to figure out the solve of the newest puzzle. Not that I'm trying to discourage anyone from doing it

Imbri started a very nice Dramatis Personae for CTW that didn't seem to be kept up. Feel free to follow her lead if you want to do it here. In fact, if you want to spend the time to keep an eye on the organization of the QuickRef forum, let me know and I'll add you as moderator there.
Anyone else who wants to help moderate the Acheron forums, please PM me.

Sandra since you have an idea of how you'd like to organize it great!!! However, I again ask "why reinvent the wheel" we already have a Quick Reference Section here:http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=64&sid=6a2710993ad78c9f736039b1ae458014
And low and behold Cemgate has already started a section for Reggie here: http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2285 and Meg here:http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2284 so a good start would be to add how they were found and who they are perhaps by linking to original post for each in the other parts of the forum with a brief summary?
I for one am lazy and try to keep life as simple as possible.... seems like the systems that were used in the past were before we had this great UF forum set up (kudos to Space!).... IMHO perhaps we should be looking at how to better use UF versus all sorts of other websites to check for information...
.... in some ways the trail seems perhaps less important than a guide.... I found with CTW that if I got behind it was great to be able to go to Veen's Guide.... the other thing I found extremely useful was Imbri's Quick Links....
for what it's worth

I agree. For the Who's who it would be nice to have a simple sticky post for each character with just the main facts. No specs or ideas or any of that.

I think that's a good idea too. It sure is nice to have one or two sites to check each day rather than 20 odd sites. Although, I do really like the Wiki trail if we can keep up with it since anyone can update what has happened.

Thanks for the advice, all. I'll just go ahead with my little project and if people want to use it - fine. If not, I'll have the info in a place that's easy for me to find. If I can find a software that will make this easier I'll update it. Otherwise I'll just add to each of the pages as important information and relationships develope.
Here's what I tossed together: http://www.ladys-shop.com/bios/

UPDATE: WIKI TRAIL I just added the people I could identify to the L3 Wiki Trail . That way anyone who has a bit of time to spare for the cause can update or modify as needed.
