eating the future by what is done today I just want to thank both sides of the coin for helping to do just that. If you want a brighter future in what you love, you nurture and support your up and coming growing talent.
to paraphrase Frank Zappa, one eats the future by destroying r & d and it all winds back into a circle of recycling the past until we all experience death by nostalgia.
A sad day for the ARG world, indeed. For what was now, and what could have been. what wonders of the future we will never experience.
Again, thanks.
EDIT - moved to Various & Sundry forum - SG

Thanks, Scarpe. We can always refer to it in the upcoming record "the day the ARGs died". This isnt the only one, but one of many things to happen along this entire line.
It is a trend, and one not liked at all.

Let's cry in the dark.
Edit: okay, perhaps I am being a bit sardonic. I dont mean to go off derailing. If you guys want to start a real discussion about this, I'll get out of the way.

So....this is how things work here? Honestly, if you don't have anything constructive to say, get out of the thread.
Tony is right. My game was my mistake, but the way that other games have been treated is downright appalling. People cry for innovation in the genre, yet here you are tearing apart the very games that try that.

So Tony, how is being utterly condescending and scolding to everyone on this board supposed to help matters? Your statement right up there isn't just an indictment of a particular few you felt were being to mean to the Flaming Heart PM. It was a blanket statement implicating that all 7074 registered members of Unfiction have now, in fact, killed the genre. Are you trying to be part of the problem or the solution?

Okay, you know what? We're a good bunch of pretenders. We pretend that AIs from the future actually need our help, we also pretend that every thing that comes our could potentially be the next big thing.
In fact, we trust that fantasy. Maybe too much. Did we pick the wrong soapbox to jump on and make some points? Maybe. Did we ruin the greatest ARG ever to come down the pike?
Maybe not.
Let's put our pretending caps on. Let's pretend this didnt happen. Tell your friends to bring the flaming heart back. Let's give it the chance that it deserves. Let's quit fighting pretend wars, and lets bring this one out into the street. If it is truly good, truly fun, then it wont take long for us to get over this hump.
Can the PM's forgive and forget? Can the players?
Ladies and gents, I say, even though we may have been out of place, our feelings on the general trends were not. BUT. If we can can chase runners and be ensigns in the space navy, I say we can extend that ability to our real world, right here and now.
I'm willing to shut my mouth and extend a hand across the meta divide. Lets play the game. If it isnt good enough to kick off right, and distract us from this bullshit, then so be it. Does anybody else agree? Can we all drop the shit and give it a chance to prove itself? Will the PMs care to join in if we do? Is our strength as a community enough to even heal community wounds? Given the chance, can the PMs put their hearts back into it?
Let's stop pontificating, and lets get down to business. If this is a wound, lets heal it. If this is hubris, lets see the hubris put to rest.
We're proud of being a community, and some of us feel that we need to guide the community. Some of us feel that we chose a bad way to do so, and some are just plain hurt. I think we're all right.
Can we do it? Shall we play, or take our ball and go home?
Personally, I'll say this: I'm sorry that I helped in the derailment. I am not sorry about the general comments about the state of games, because they apply, but I am sorry that I chose to aim them at your game.
Give us another chance, and we will give you one too.
Let's play.

I am somewhat insulted by that statement.
