I suggest the reason pundits are saying Ryman Gardner isn't likely to be a serious contender for the title of PCAG champion in the fFuture is in fFact a lot more simple than it seems.

He has done pretty well in the past, but he's never done quite well enough. He always fFalls just short of where he needs to be to win. At some point, a person must get better or consider doing something else with their life. Sooner or later, the guy has to do something amazing, and he just isnt looking like he's going to.

Also, other elements here are age groups. There's probably an age group he is about to enter into (like a 40+ age group) which is a whole different set of puzzles and puzzlers. He may have a chance at doing great things in that league, sure. But that's a whole other ball of wax.

Lastly, there is a distinct possibility the PCAG does indeed involve physical pursuits. It's not just mental gesticulation. There probably is an elemnt of reflex, speed, maybe even some all out physical contact.

Or not. More stuff we just don't know. what's new.

From the Talksport interview it looks as if the PCAG may well be balanced towards the mental and not the physical:
Quote:
Mike Mendoza: What's the PCAG?

Michiko Clark: The PCAG is the Perplex City Academy Games, and that is our biggest sport in Perplex City. It's kind of a puzzle solving competition. There are a variety of puzzles, and there's a points scoring system. Lots and lots of people play, although not many people play in the elite, professional level. We actually do quite a lot of news about the PCAG. Currently there's a new player, well, not that recent, she's been playing this year, called Gabriella Petel, and she's just managed to put in a breakaway performance, we've been very impressed with her. She didn't show that potential the last few years, so it's been very interesting.

Interesting that Petel has just started to come good? Time for a random drugs test me thinks...
