[UPDATE] June 27 - www.salkfamily.com

Update at Salk family site
Quote:
27th June: We have now made a cross-platform version of the maze available, so more people should be able to investigate it.

and
Quote:
27th June: Pietro Salk has now passed away.

As an aside:
In Michiko Clark's radio broadcast, she said, " Now, these mazes are really interesting because they've led us to a few old items from his files."
Is that a nudge of where to look....somewhere in the salkfamily.com files?

Oh, wow. I listened to the stream of that broadcast and completely failed to notice that part. I'd say there are probably files somewhere...

This deduction came partly from the spoilerized text in that huge post, so I'll spoilerize this...

there's a lot of discussion about this over in the puzzles thread but i guess here would be the place to discuss theories, spec etc. arising out of the contents of the logs found on the Salk Family website

rach =)

Well, well. We seem to have uncovered a lot of information in a very short amout of time. *Digests*

1) There is new information, as spug has written above me make sure you have read it all and follow just what happened. The maze was solved (either proper/improper-ly) and a message was deduced. This message (story if you will) led to finding logs on the salkfamily website, pietro's logs about his email conversations.

2) Ok you are almost up to date read on Wink

well since its too late to 'unsee' it, i suppose we should discuss whom each of the members of the cube-theft-team are/were/or could be.
(ill post this at a later time in a thread discussing the logs).

now! before we go blabbing to any ingame character about this, pls lets all atleast come to some sort of decision. A poll or anything else as to how we handle the information we find from now on.

Not to mention that this info was probably ment to be released slowly over time, instead of found in one giant gulp, but thats life, the game has to go on and adapt.

edit: to keep all of this on topic

there are still passwords for these following logs which need to be found:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):

LOCKED: http://salkfamily.com/myvoicereturnstome/
LOCKED: http://salkfamily.com/iwalkalittlefaster/
LOCKED: http://salkfamily.com/andnowshebeginstopursueme/
LOCKED: http://salkfamily.com/theyarethisstory/

and thus the updates for now are concluded
Twisted Evil

my spec:

Q - B. Holyoake
K - TA
C - Raiza C
V - take your pick

My speculation on what information this gives us.. Maybe we need a [SPEC] cube stealers thread?

TA, K: The Advisor
Likes coriander-lime buns. Wanted to work with trees, likes the Rudon Forest. Fresh-cut grass perfume. Lives in Ascendancy Point.

Q, Quercus, BH, H: Bernardo Holyoke

Make the link to BH because Quercus is something to do with Oak trees. Could be wrong and Q/Quercus could be a fourth underling hired by V.

Was hired to steal the cube (along with TA). Was killed. Owner of Five of Cups bar that had Academy tech in it (a Reynolds ionizer and three Klebold plates)

C: ? C?
Female, software Genius. Suspects:

Raiza Czenechovsky: Very high on list.
Myra Champaign: Could be too young
Michiko Clark: Certainly in a position of power (Sentinel Editor)
Sarah Covington: Has already been murdered under suspicious circumstances (See the Michael Corolla case)

Others: Rebecca Croft, Dr Vaccaro Cyriak, Karen Chondelle, Paula Ching

V: ?
Big Boss, dangerous person.

Well...that's a whole lot of excitement.

The first thing that strikes me is that I don't think Mrs. Salk should be informed of this information yet, and possibly at all. If she (in an obviously un-objective state) were to go digging then things could be dangerous for her, and for the others involved.

I think we should keep this under our hats and see how things pan out.

[Edit], I guess that goes for Michiko Clark and Violet too

i agree, i don't know what's already been emailed but i don't think we should be letting anyone (especially sylvia) know about these log files just yet. at the very least until we've opened the passworded ones - and im sure if we're patient we'll get those answers in due course rather than having to email her, cos a) her husbands just died, b) she really shouldnt be knowing about her husband having any kind of 'affair' just now and c) her autoresponse seems to indicate she wont be reading/replying to any email any time soon anyway.

rach =)

Might be a bit of a leap but

V=Violet?

Also doesn't the whole "them" thing sound a bit like the underground vampire communities of Blade?

Well, that's what I also thought first, (in panic and suspicion) but there's also

Von Lubik, or perhaps V could be numerals and be 5 and refer to someone who has something to do with the 5 of Cups

and probably any number of others

How long are we going to maintain the spoilerisation? The story has broken, whatever the thought on the method, and if we're going to be spoilering until people have legitimately completed the maze then things are going to get very maroon around here.

Way out from left field suggestion:

Could "C" be Ruth Coralhouse?

"C" is referred to in the past tense, and Coralhouse was awfully keen for research to be undertaken to transfer stuff to and from earth...

I don't think so somehow, seeing as:

I think that C was the initial of her real surname - foolish of her

And somehow I don't think the top guy would be that foolish Smile

I'd also like to refer everyone to this post:

http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=10348

It may have nothing to do with the 'V' we're looking for, but, you never know.

TA

Sorry if this has already appeared somewhere I haven't seen, (I did look!) but doesn't it seem the Advisor must be Madame Bianca? Take the writing style, the pseudonym, and the epicurean tastes, and it seems pretty clear.

Other thoughts?

Right, I feel really really dumb for asking this, but how did you get from http://www.salkfamily.com/she/ to all the other stuff in the logs? I feel like I missed that bit but I can't find it on any other threads.

EDIT: Yup, I was being dumb. I blame it on the lovely weather preventing me from concentrating. Anyway, for those of you similarly confused, you go to http://www.salkfamily.com and type in the sentences from the long message as sub-directories to get the other stuff, e.g. the first sentence is 'In my dreams, I am walking in a maze' so you go to http://www.salkfamily.com/inmydreamsiamwalkinginamaze

That was a seriously cool bit of conjecture that got you there Bri

They 'hacked' the program. The thread in Puzzles under the Maze shows how they did it and what they found - or I may be very wrong
