Maybe its mass can't be found because (as everyone keeps saying) it is interdimenional and doesn't really exist in this dimension or is in some sort of 'temporal flux'?
In case you can't tell I'm new to this and still don't have any idea what people are on about.

The Labyrinth (Maze) --- maybe catacombs???
Greek mythology did not recall, however, that in Crete there was a Lady who presided over the Labyrinth. A tablet inscribed in Linear B found at Knossos records a gift "to all the gods honey; to the mistress of the labyrinth honey." All the gods together receive as much honey as the Mistress of the Labyrinth alone.
In Greek mythology, the Labyrinth was an elaborate maze constructed for King Minos of Crete and designed by the legendary artificer Daedalus to hold the Minotaur,

Artifact by Gregory Benford
A small cube of black rock has been unearthed in a 3500-year-old Mycenaean tomb.
An incomprehensible object in an impossible place; its age,its purpose, and its origins are unknown.
Its discovery has unleashed a global storm of intrigue, theft and espionage, and is pushing nations to the brink of war.
Its substance has scientists baffled. And the miracle it contains does not belong on this Earth.
It is mystery and madness -- an enigma with no equal in recorded history. It is mankind's greatest discovery ... and worst nightmare.
It may have already obliterated a world. Ours is next.
in the novel the cube contains a singularity that carved the passages of the labyrinth and is the basis of the cretan myths and Theseus trapped it in the cube
the singularity warped space and gravity so the cube had strange mass measurements

still in the theme of nonesense...my name 'ariadne', comes from that myth.
Ariadne was the daughter of King Minos of Crete. It turnes into a love story when Ariadne helps a boy kill the minotaur and escape the labyrinth, but then he abandons her on an island.
Story of my life, help a boy out and then he leaves you. bah.

And then you turned into a spider? That's gonna be a great autobiography
EDIT: P.S. not trying to twist the knife here - feel free to punch me really hard if I'm not funny and being too much of an ass.
EDIT 2: Yeah, it's Arachne, not Ariadne. My bad. I should just stick to computers, physics and trashy TV, huh?

OT: are you thinking about Arachne?
Perhaps the Cube is an omphalos The center of a maze and all. But if the Cube is a "Building," then who is the Recon-revered "Builder"?

hahahaha, no...it was Arachne that was turned into a spider. Ariadne was transformed into a goddess when Dionysus found her on the island and fell in love with her.
I just haven't found my Dionysus yet! hahahaha
