Re: [PUZZLE] #85 Yellow Maze - Sweet Dreams (E3)

i recognised it as the fibonacci sequence too, good old maths lessons ;) this website here, if you scroll down a bit, has a nice picture explaining the nautilus shell connection

This series goes by two names. The first people to reply with one or other of the names will also get this card from me. (Don't give both, just one so we can get as many "winners" as possible please.)

the mathmos present may cry sacrilege if i say this, (and i've already edited out once cos i thought i was wrong) but is the other name you refer to something to do with the fibonacci sequence being a special case of a lucas series?

thanks for posting the cards up hitshermark, gives us something to play with til this elusive early june date :)

rach =)

Actually, I was looking for the "Golden mean" or "Golden Arch" as the other name. But Nacht mentioned when he gave the correct answer to the question of what the next number in the series would be.

Looking up the Lucas Numbers I see that you have a very good point. So, since I'm only giving Nacht one copy of this card, it looks like the third card going to you.

I have more then three copies of this card to give out. I'm going to figure out what to do for distributing the rest and make a post Sunday around noonish pacific time.

because you ask for it SACRILEGE!!! ... anyway... they are related but not the same...
here's a good website on Fibonacci(series/sequence/numbers), Lucas series, and Phi numbers/ The Golden ratio

This seems pointlessly easy for #85? Aren't they supposed to get difficult as they get higher?

Just to say, it's the colours that denote the difficulty, not the number of the card.
