Aha! Well, that clears that one up...Cunning how they've introduced all these women with 'C' based surnames just to annoy us Smile

Leeravitz on the Corolla trial:

Quote:
My natural assumption (for ages) was that the bribery was intended *positively* i.e. that the case would be 'thrown' so that Corolla could get off for a crime he committed. But maybe it's the other way round - someone wants to see Corolla go down in order to cover up a hidden agenda, and they tried to prime the jury to ensure that the decision went their way.

You're quite right! From The Sentinel:

Quote:
Corolla Retrial Up in Air

The city is delaying its efforts to reschedule Michael Corolla's murder trial while it investigates emerging evidence that Corolla may have been set up. "It looks like a juror was being paid to convict him," said Corolla's legal representative, Johann Jacobson. "Nobody does something like that without a big motive, and we're going to find out what that motive is."

Can we please stop spoilering spec? It's really very annoying to read it that way Confused I understand that all of this may be news to somebody, but, honestly, that's not a reason to spoiler every post in a thread tagged UPDATE (which usually entails, uh, news).

Please, please, let's reserve spoiler tags for solves and partial solves. Pretty much the rule of thumb should be - if you're about to spolerize guesswork, you should reconsider; and if you're about to spoilerize something in an update thread, it had better be a brand new password or something along those lines Smile

Thanks!

ancient religion

If the Advisor is Madame Bianca (and I still believe it is a she and is her) then the ancient religion in question would have something to do with the PPC star signs. There is precedent for this, and for it being some kind of sub-interest for the Recons - remember the puzzle door lock Violet had to solve?

I can see a possible slight problem with this is that Peter Salk worked on the same newspaper that this Madame Bianca also worked (unless they got the Futures anonymously or they don't work in an office and everything is uploaded - this was mentioned in the Interview that papaer newspapers are a thing of the past).

Therefore when they met the emails don't mention any recognition or that "I've been working with you for so long but did not know" type of messages.

Also I do believe that The Advisor lives in Ascendancy Point, the bakery, the mention of the views, trees etc.

Not to mention that she said she lived in the building that Joya was supposed to be getting married in (ascendancy point)

This got me to thinking that we don't know the cause of Ruth Coralhouse's death.

I tried to look for info in Wiki and had no luck. She was elderly and I just assumed that she died in her home of natural causes. Now I don't think I should have assumed that. Do anyone have any insight on this?

Something that caught my attention:

Quote:
You're hardly going to escape out of the window, after all!

I realise that escaping out of windows my not be everyone's cup of tea, but the way that Salk emphasises this to TA makes me think that TA may be in a wheelchair or has some other impairment. Could this be an example of V's dangerousness or some unfortunate accident?

Another thing that has been bothering me is when Pietro was infected by the neurowhatevewedecidetocallit.

Was there a break in at his place?
Did he let them in?
Was he infected earlier - a time delay - at the last meeting?

Did we decide on anything?

Probably just a further reference to the fact that TA lives in Ascendency Point...and it's a long way down . Laughing

sure! you'll want to go here:

http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html

and download the "J2SE v 1.4.2_08 JRE" (the second section on that page. that is the Java Runtime Environment. Java can be built on any platform, to be run on any platform. handy that. but you need the runtime environment to do so. see? so download the J2RE (java 2 runtime enviornment), and be prepared to wait. it's rather large. then install it, and you should then be able to double click on any *.JAR fFiles and they will open right up.

if you need more help, just ask Smile

As relates to Pietro and the neuro - whatthelleveritwas...

I have no more idea than anyone else how it got into his system (literally) but I have started to wonder a lot about what sort of interpretation we should be placing on events. My natural first thought on reading the logs was that TA was desperately afraid that she was being hunted down, she needed to talk to Pietro in order to get him to support her, he (or she - there's that telling bit that suggests TA's been 'spying' on the Salks, so maybe she 'led' them to where Pietro lived??) slipped up somewhere along the line, and our mysterious friend with the newspaper (TM) started trailing him, and then, in the fullness of time, he also arranged for Pietro to die...painfully, and untraceably.

That's what it looks like on the surface. But there's a tendency here to take everything TA told Pietro at face value; it's equally possible that someone felt Pietro needed to be neutralised *before* he got involved, and that was why he was approached in the first place; that TA was the bait; that she and 'newspaper man' were working as a team, with him as her 'minder', and that she was being disingenuous (to say the least) when she claimed not to know him, and that she, TA, slipped Pietro the knife (so to speak) when he was at his most vulnerable and unsuspecting...

I actually think both sound about equally plausible; maybe the latter is even slightly *more* convincing because it explains how Pietro may have let his guard down during a time when he might otherwise have been expected to have been *extra* vigilant??

Wow! Loads to catch up on with all the stuff that's been going on recently. Apart from all the things everyone's already mentioned, the main thing that jumped out at me when reading Salk's logs was the fact that TA was into trees. This reminded me of the whole Northside Development saga. Could TA be one of the protestors we heard about, maybe one of the one's who were named in the article/s in the Sentinel? Surely if TA was that into trees, they would've been quite concerned about losing the Northside nature area and quite likely to be compelled to protest against it. It's just a theory, but it's worth checking out.

Does anyone have a list of the names from the protest article/s?
