One Person ARG's

okay i hope i don't get trouted here because i've been searching over an hour and cannot find any refrence to my question.. which follows:

Are there any one player ARG's out there that you can start FROM THE BEGINNING and play by yourself to its end?
as a newbie to this i can tell you it is VERY frustrating looking at all these cool games that are being played and are WELL into it so not only do you have to catch up (if you can) and if you try to play noone else will talk to you because you are to far behind and what clues you've found are already done with.

i haven't been able to get into the MMORPG's because of too much hack and slash and not enough RP.. now i find this and i am thouroughly interested but can't start?

and honestly i'm not about to go searching the millions of random webpages out there to try and find the "one" game that hasn't been found yet.

so i would like to find an ongoing ARG that allows any one to start from the beginning and play thru to its end.. mabye simple or complex i don't even care, i just want to play

so if anyone doesn't feel like flaming me or trouting me and giving me some answers to my question.. or even some good suggestions minus any vagueness like "keep searching" or "you just haven't tried hard enough".. but some real solid information..

i wholly and thouroughly WELCOME any and all comments.. you can also get in touch with me directly.. my info is in my profile

thank you so much and have awesome days,

There are several things like emailmystery.com that are designed to be played individually, on your own timeline (if anyone else has suggestions along these lines, please let me know). However, I think for the most part, people not actively playing games just kind of hang out and read into games that look interesting until a new one pops up they'd like to play all the way through.

If you're looking to start something, the Omnifam ARG is still in the early stages (we've only had some very preliminary missions, and don't really know what's going on plot-wise, if anything). Art of the Heist is set to conclude June 29, so after that no doubt other grassroots ARG's that have been waiting to start up may begin then.

Hope this helped!

PS: If nothing else, I'm sure if you sent a message to an active player in a currently running ARG, they'd be more than happy to explain the plot and thus-far developments to you. Welcome to the boards!

There's also the BBC Jamie Kane game (currently in open beta) that begins when you register, although it's aimed at a younger audience, if that matters to you.

In general, however, I think you'll find that most ARGs are geared toward collaborative play, rather than individual play.

But that's a good thing. Wink

As others here said, if you ask other players for help, they will be more than happy to help you catch up or point you to resources.

In any case, welcome, and best wishes for an amazing first ARG experience. Very Happy

And when someone does a Birthday Trail for another player, many times they will post the Rabbithole in here (after the recipient has completed it). Look around with Search.
Is JMX still available for puzzle solving practice?

You could also check out the Still Life Prelude game. It's a fairly good length and involves a little bit of scripted character interaction and some decent puzzles. It's quite fun, actually.

You also might want to go through some of the old guides for the games. The cloudmaker's archive is probably the best since it has this great journey page that basically nudges you along through the game. Yes, The Beast has been concluded for some time, but since they have 99% of the game archived, you can go back and experience something of what it was like.

If you like that, then you can also check out the guides for Chasing the Wish, Metaurchins, and I Love Bees. Even though I wasn't around for The Beast, CtW and Mu, I still feel like I know the stories simply because of these great guides that people have written.

Most defintely. The Quige, the masterpiece of RobMagus, must be seen to be believed.

It's only cuz I haven't gotten around to reading the UH Quige that I didn't mention it. But I'm sure it's just as good as all the others Very Happy

The Quige is so stupendous, that it coined a new descriptive word to set it apart from any other ARG guide.

Has anyone mentioned Mayday Mystery yet?

Then I will.
