A secret...
Category: me, 01:26 PM
OK, so I probably shouldn't post this, but who cares? I'm tired of the Sentinel writing their stupid articles criticising my dad. Particularly because I happen to know that the most recent one is completely wrong. Hah! Take that Michiko! So... I know, because my dad told me yesterday, and I don't even think it's that much of a secret, that a handful of the cards will be available today from one of the nine Cardinal stores. Apparently, Playlounge in London will have some for sale in store from 3.33pm today. So, wrong again, Sentinel!
I've asked the Mind Candy folk to try and send me a photo of the first person to buy a pack. Can't wait to see what happens!
I love you Scarlett! <3 <3 Gotta love that 333 reference too!So much love, so little time...
So, who can get down there?

Woot!, I'll be there 3.33 on the dot. I'll be wearing a blue and brown striped t-shirt if anyone cares. Oh and my pics on the left

Well, the timing is unfortunate but everyone I've been in contact with seems to have the attitude that they're going to continue as normally as possible and refuse to let anyone try to change that by force so I hope someone off the board can get down there.

Unfortunatley I won't be able to scan the pics till Monday at best, I'm going straight from the shop to a two day beer session so won't have the time I'm afraid.

Man walks into a shop and says, "can I have all your Perplex city puzzle cards please", "All?!?", "yes, some umm... friends of mine want some too"

If they have multiple copies for sale, I can swing by after work and get a pack, then scan them in tonight.

Go forth, Flidget, and purchase. The hopes of us all rest upon your shoulders!
What are the rules about scanning again?

From the wiki :

Perplex City Cards
We've had clarification from Mind Candy that no Hi-Res copies of the cards are to be uploaded. Anyone uploading a Hi-resolution version of a Card will have their account suspended. The only acceptable size for card scans (until we get further clarification) is less than 300x450

Roger that, Enigmaster.
. . . have they said anything about transcribing the puzzles?

Not in the wiki AFAIK - I'd guess that as long as it the puzzle isn't such good quality that a realistic copy of the card can be made then it'd be OK.

Not much to say apart from a sombre "woo hoo"!
About time But then, what timing! I wonder if this is in response to what has happened?

I've just been given a pat on the head for managing to make it in to work at all today in the first place, then told I can go home early.
In other words, race you there, Reason.

For what it's worth a reasonable explanation of timing for this is:
They shipped the cards yesterday (or before given what happened yesterday), and playlounge received their batch. However, the other shops have not yet as they're all overseas. In order to allow them to have a unified internationl release, they've set a date in the future where all shops should have their stocks.
Now go get 'em jeremy, and get your ass right back to a scanner after too!

To answer my own questions, Nik_Doof emailed Mind Candy about this a while ago. They said that they can't really allow high-resolution scans of the entire card, but the following are fine:
Quote:
- low to mid res scans of both sides
- plain text transcriptions of any text on the cards
- magnifications of limited, selected areas of the cards (to show
specific areas of small detail)
So there you have it. Depending on how much time you have and how many different cards you get hold of, I'd be happy to help with resizing, transcribing and whatnot - just email me with the higher-res scans. I'm sure lots of other people can help out too.
And remember, not buying them out of their entire stock means The Terrorists Have Already Won.
