[SOLVED] #078 Yellow - Edible Love

"I'm feeling romantic. What am I making?

Ingredients
25g lightly salted butter
2.5 tbsp double cream
30g caster sugar
15g hazelnuts
15g almond flakes
25g glazed cherries
15g plain flour
A pinch of salt

Topping:
30g white chocolate
30g plain chocolate

Recipe
First melt the butter in a pan and add the cream and sugar and bring to a boil. Switch off the gas and add the hazelnuts, almond flakes and cherries. Sieve the flour and the salt together and fold into the mixture. Use a teaspoon to pour out the mixture in blobs on a baking tray approximately 3 inches apart and flatten with a wet fork.

Preheat the oven to 180 C and bake for about 10 minutes or until the edges are golden brown. Leave to cool for about 5 minutes and then remove from the tray and onto a cooling rack until firm.

For the topping, melt the chocolate and spread over one side and leave it to set. Just before it is fully set, you can make impressions or wavy designs on it with a fork. Or you can write your beloved's name or even intial it with your own."

Well, this is a guess, but I suppose it might be worth spoilering, just in case:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Florentines?

This site confirms the above guess with a duplicate recipe. But why the flowers? Just to be romantic? Or is there more here?

Well, that's nice to know. It took me ages to remember what the damn things were called. As to the flowers...

It's a romantic eating experience, right? So, could this card have something to do with a picnic? If so, could it be the picnic that Sylvia and Pietro Salk went on? In which case, what are those flowers, and do they have anything to do with the password problem of knowing what Sylvia's favourite flowers are?

Following what you said there Leeravitz... Those do indeed look like red Iris's - which incidentally is what someone bruteforced as a password and it provided a different outcome than the others.

Red Iris?

The flowers could just be a visual clue for the word Florentine.

Okay, this is amusing, but "feeling romantic" anagrams to "Florentine Magic."

Well, there is an interesting question as to who was 'feeling romantic', anyway, I suppose? There's no obvious reason why any member of the Cube Retrieval Team would be cross - referring to the Salk case, of course, so that may be just a red herring. On the other hand, who knows? Maybe TA was Anna or Tippi? (although then not recognising a man who looks just like Garnet stretches credibility a bit...). And, yes, what would be the point of the card?

It took me a while to find the signature, but this one's signed by Anna.

Looking at them again, I'm pretty confident that they are Rhododendrons. This site has a similar picture, but this line of inquiry is looking like a dead end to me.

Yes, I have looked around and the flower and leaves are definitely rhododendron. But the card is called edible love, and it seems that rhododendrons are fatal. Maybe...
