Instigating remark

Can we please.
Please.
Please, get through one crisis without somebody trotting out the effigies and the snide remarks about the everlovin' president?

Thank you.

JoeOE18, surely you speak of Sadam and are not instigating that American soldiers kill innocent people?

I would have to agree with JoeOE18 on this one. I believe that he is indeed insinuating that American soldiers kill innocent people. Not that he is placing any blame on those individual men. The blame lies squarely on the shoulders of those men who order or sons, and daughters into battle. Failing to follow these orders is usually punishable by penalty of death. We even have a name for this expected amount of innocent life lost: Collateral Damage.

"We don't do body counts"
-General Tommy Franks, US Central Command

"There will one day spring from the brain of science a machine or force so fearful in its potentialities, so absolutely terrifying, that even man, the fighter, who will dare torture and death in order to inflict torture and death, will be appalled, and so abandon war forever."
-Thomas A. Edison

Hi from NYC

We're still thinking of you London. We know that just because the trains and the buses are running it doesn't mean that everything is fine or that everyone is OK or that life will ever be the same again. You have much to be proud of in your response to the bombings. Take good care of yourselves.

It was very odd on the tubes this morning, much quieter than usual, to be expected I guess. And everyone was sharing odd looks with each other, very suspicious and keeping an eye on every bag.

However, I had no delays or anything, so we go on as best we can. And it's remarkable the system has managed to get mostly back into action so quickly.

So, they found more bombs in Birmingham last night. How very disappointing ...

Man, these terrorists just don't get it. By going after the British now, they demonstrate a clear lack of understanding for British history. The Brits beat back every single invasion into their homeland over the last thousand years. The Vikings? Adopted them into the British culture. The French? Thoroughly beaten, again and again. The Nazis? They got bombed to hell and then came back to win the war. The English aren't going to be cowed by a couple of Exclamation with pipe bombs. They aren't going to just throw their hands in the air.

I hope you all across the pond are galvanized by this, rather than discouraged, because you've shown an immense amount of fortitude in light of this. Even though some Americans completely miss the point and use this as an opportunity to be snarky about the President, most of us have your back in this. Not just our hearts but our thoughts go out to you.

You omitted the IRA (Irish Republican Army)... I still remember the Arndale Center bombing back in June of '96. Although no-one died in that incident, the bomb was the biggest in UK history (3,000 lb truck bomb).
