Pretty much ready to go....I'm off out in half an hour to see my parents off to London from Leeds railway station, then heading up to Millennium Square. I'll be looking out for a sandal-wearing smoothie drinker and a shifty-looking guy in a red van. I'll try and get some photos on my phone if I get the chance, although the quality probably won't be that great. Nervous as hell at the moment.

Okey, the hand-off was good. Just finished talking to Chippy and it looks like we've got a CD of information to digest, along with a magazine with possible clues.
Hes the recordings of the convos:
Chippy's Arrival at Millenium Sq
5 mins and nothing good
Suspious Char arrived
Drop Complete / Info on Dennison and Items
Also Chippy posted to his Flickr:
Nelson Mandella's Hands
We're awaiting a pic of Dennison...

report After some lovely scrambled eggs and coffee at the nearby cafe.. i moved in position, and sat on one of the bences by the sculpture.
From what i remember, he was initially sitting down on one of the benches... There were a group of kids playing the fountain nearby, and throwing pint glasses of water around - so i got up and moved, and rang nik... when nik_doof asked me what my flikr account was, and i said "chippee" i think he heard me, as his head turned around... so he was sitting down, flicking though the magazine, but not reading at it, just looking around. Then after the call, i moved around, it was like 2 mins to 3 and flutesalad turned up, phew, safety in numbers!
Then we went over to the hands, and Roger got up and was standing right under them now. I said, "Roger?" he said "Chippy?" i introduced flutesalad, and he then said (this is when i wished i had a dictaphone) "Right, listen carefully, i found something in my van that would be of immense importance to uncovering the Balance...its something i wished i never wished to get into, im done with the whole affair, and this time tomorrow i'll be in Mexico". He then handed me the magazine, and poking out of the free-cd sleeve on the front cover was a cd-r. he then walked quickly away. I tried, lamely, to say something like "so does that mean its all square between you and the carer?" but he was gone...
(flute, have i missed anything?)
Wish the webcam was better quality. i *was* wearing a white t-shirt though
files: photos of man behind some bushes. this was the guy (edit...somewhere...)
and of flutesalad with the magazine and cdrom, after the exchange

Woo, what fun!
Dennison didn't look anything like I expected him to - not particularly anonymous with his shock of curly grey hair, more like a shady character off Eastenders. We would have liked to get a better shot of him but like chippy said, he took of before we had a chance to react, stall him or think of anything to say other than, 'um, so that's it?'
No sign of his red van anywhere - and if I were heading off to Brazil I'd probably ditch it, so no real surprise there. We did see the back end of what could have been a red van parked just off Great George street but when I checked it out later it was just a volvo estate.
Thoughts on his 'gift' so far:
There was nothing obvious in the mag that was designed to catch our eye. It was probably to make him look less shifty hanging about mandela gardens, although that didn't really work
The person in the mp3 - sounds like someone new. I don't think it's the carer as Dennison knows him, or sort of. Sounds more like someone who's been watching him in the background - I'm thinking maybe a member of the balance, an insider. Hopefully all will become clear when we've worked out what the 'clue' is...

I'm running it through a sound processor, I can hear binary in the background.

In background you can hear three different sections. The first is a mumbled 'the balance'. The second I'm a little iffy on, either 'try 001' or '5001' and the third being '.html'. None of the addresses work with these combinations, but I'll keep trying?
EDIT: Now that I listen to it again, the last part might be '.htm'. Ahh!

I'm getting private001 when amplifying the background. And it is only htm, not html

Yeah it is .htm. But with private infront, it still doesn't work.
Hmm. I'm downloading a better sound editor, since mine only does .wav files. (stupid!)
And the first one is 'the balance' right? Just so we know the same things?

The Carer emailed me. Whoops forgot to update him!
Quote:
May I assume the drop-off went as planned? What did he give you?
I've not been told the specifics.
emailed him back with details
Quote:
Hello,
Roger Dennison was at the place specified in Leeds millenium sqaure.
Myself and one other met him, and he was, to say the least, looking
quite harrassed. He said that he found something of importance to the
Balance, and that by giving it to us, he would rid himself finally of
the whole deal, and he was off to Brazil. He gave us a CD-ROM containing an audi file, the "caretakers" decoded a message hidden underneath which lead to http://thebalance.0nyx.com/private001.htm
with a link to the Balance Intranet system
and then the password being "greenearth"
leads to:
http://thebalance.0nyx.com/intranet0594600095htg99752.htm
giving important bulletins
http://thebalance.0nyx.com/intranet0594600095htg99752bulletins.htm
so you were no. 18?
weve also got specialists working on the cd-rom image looking for
further hidden stuff.
