I've given my phone number to CTW, Urban Hunt, Acheron and Aware. I am sure this isn't a Dave (CTW, Urban Hunt) game.

CTW and Acheron are the only two on that list that I registered for, if it helps to narrow things down.

VirtuQuest is the only place I ever gave my phone # to, and it was my cellphone which you can't find just by searching. Somehow the PMs must have gotten player info from a variety of sources. Perhaps a collaboration between folks from various differnt shops pooling their resources together.

But it seems like such an "UberPM" team would run a pretty fast-paced and solid game...although such collaborations have been hit or miss in other fields so perhaps I am wrong Smile

Is it possible they were just leading up to the flash game, and when we reach the top score, we're finished?

"Usually", an ARG has a story with a beginning / middle / end. Just like a movie, a book, or any other type of fiction.

In this case, it looked like the PMs were going to split people up into Runners and Sandmen, and then have some goal that each had to do which would probably require interaction between the two groups.

I quite possibly breached protocol yesterday by going behind what I assume to be the curtain and emailing Virtuquest directly asking them if they knew anything about this game and if so, what the heck is going on. As of yet, no response.

Maybe we bickered the game into the ground about the "Yes, teams! No Teams!" thing and they gave up?

This Acheron PM isn't involved and wouldn't condone use of the phone numbers for other adventures.

I certainly hope that any PM team would recognize the potential for controversy if teams are suggested and would be prepared to deal with it, not just give up.

I do think that it would be appropriate for the CoD PMs to find some sort of way, in-game or out, to let the players know what's going on. Unless perhaps it's a solo PM who is incapacitated at the moment -- which is a good example of why solo PMs might not be such a good idea.

How far down does the rabbit hole go?

What if that is the whole point?!!! Shocked

A PM goes missing in the middle of an exciting arg and it is up to the Citizens to find out what went wrong and how to help her!

Btw, did anyone read my post about decompiling the STS?
