Predictive text on mobile phones can make messaging much faster, but it can;t read your mind. Can you decode this message made by someone in a hurry?

Was in the car after hole tried to get poisoned from the carnage but got a shot of barking instead. Got a lips off bomb, but now she's good good

Didn't someone (Scarlet, I think) say that keys doubled as mobile phones for them, among other things?

Yeah, they did, but sony erricson? Smile I suppose that with all the "let's all get stuff like on earth" fad going on, they might have modelled new keys on earth mobiles (sony and all), and even have "smirnoff" vodka and "carling" beer (maybe not even beer - it'd be a bit of a fuckup if you wanted vodka and you got a shitty lager... maybe they're not anything like their earth counterparts?)

yes indeed they do model keys after cell phones. But they have no clue what a lager tastes like, really. Might be akin to kool-aid. poor sots.

I guess you are well versed in alcohol after the numerous gramatical and spelling mistakes in the last "poor sods" sentence.

If they could manage to find out information of the chemical composition of our foods, shouldn't they be able to mimic them?

Since there's no leaderboard or anything up yet, there's no way to know, but I got something slightly different. Please point out errors if I've missed some obvious point.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Was in the bar after Gold tried to get Smirnoff from the barmaid but got a pint of Carling instead. Got a kiss off Anna but now she's gone home!

Maybe I'm assuming too much here, but I thought Anna would be Anna Heath from the Academy, in which case it might make sense if she was out at a bar with whoever wrote the text message as well as Janna Gold, currently an adjunct senior fellow in Mathematics and Logic at the Academy.

Given there was no capitalization in "bomb" for it to be Anna, I assume there would not need to be capitalization in "hole" for it to be Gold.

Also, although the image is pretty blurry to me, it seems that there is no punctuation between "hole" and "tried", whereas there is punctuation elsewhere in the text message, so it might be erroneous to add either a period or comma as others did.

if its von who received the text, since he's into earth tech n all that, it would make sense he might have a key that resembled a sony erricsson. the other thing i was thinking of was that if someone sent the text to one of the MC ppl who got it on their phone.

but, that date? in the future? that seems a little strange. who's gonna be hooking up with anna in september then eh?

rach =)

Any chance the date could be another puzzle? Perhaps turning it into a string of numbers and using those to create a text message would reveal something?

Of course the order of the date is up for debate, but it could be something like:

200509241404
or
2409051404

I don't have a cell that does text messages or I'd try this myself...

Ok, I am new, and this is my first post. How exactly did you guys come up with the solution to the puzzle?

I probably sound pretty dumb, but I don't see how you got the words. I see how the words fit, but I don't see the solution.

Well, I believe you need a sony erricsson cell phone to figure out the answer. You try typing in the message and see what words you're given to choose from as you type. Not that I have a cell phone with text messaging to try it out with, but that's my impression.
