A wee puzzle trail I thought I'd celebrate going to ARGfest this year, by creating a small puzzle trail. There are prizes for the first six official solvers, and you can find the first clue here:

Word of advise, though, posting a link to a forum that is already discussing it may put some people off. Looks good though.

To be fair, Krystyn's the last person you need to be giving advise to. As it was, that thread is very old, and the post she made there was the opening hint, which she made...probably...two minutes before this one?

oliverkeers13, the context of the link to the other forum will assist with the first clue.
But, thank you.

Discussing in #krystynsleepdeprivation2 - the name has a history, which you can probably find if you delve into the Metacortechs forums

The tortoise.gif is actually an animated GIF, although you have to be patient to see it giving away its secrets... it has 8 frames containing numbers, which gives the sequence 30-150-252-11-304-279-176-118. If you remove all punctuation and spaces, and include the hidden text, then count the letters, you get p-o-r-t-r-a-i-t, giving

In the Portrait pic can be found the line

Ok, that had us stumped for a bit...
Props to yanka & Ehsan for solving it!

If this is crypto, then here's the transcription:
Code:
abc
abcddeedfgghccaa
bc cb
aaiddfjjfddiaa
There is a weird symmetry at the end of the last one
EDIT: added "cb" to avoid proliferating confusion

Missed a bit there, which makes it even more symmetrical.

The bottom on eappears to be a palindrome, if nothing else...

Hi all! Thanks for the steer Giskard.
Hmmm, all I can spot is that the long lines are 16 and 14 letters and we have a grid of 16 x 14.

Ehsan figured out that this whole thing might be something like this . If we treat the font as numbers 1-10 (though I'm not sure that I'm assigning the right digits to symbols), then it might look like this:
EIDT 3: a) duh; b) I'm taking out other edits so as to not confuse people, but I think the grid thing is all nice and correct now
