Rainbow Six 3 So I was browsing my local gamestop today, and ran across an amazing deal.
Used copies of Rainbow Six 3 for $7.99.
Considering Thunderclap managed to persuade some of us to pick up a demo for $10, I figured I might as well see if I can't get some beekeepers to shell out less for a full fledged game.
I've heard good things about Rainbow Six 3, and it has ~15 hours worth of single person play time, as well as live capablities.
So yeah... anyone else interested in picking up a copy? I think it'd be a good diversion from Halo2 all the time, and not nearly so packed with assholes.

Sounds reasonable. I actually rented Rainbow Six 3 back in the $50 days, back when it was #1 on Xbox Live and I just got my account. It was rather fun, but didn't attract me enough to spend the $50 on it. $8, on the other hand, is much more like it. I'll try and grab a copy later today.
One very nice feature: You can play through the single-player campaign, but replacing your AI teammates with folks on XBL (up to four players). Co-op games have always been loads of fun from my personal experience, so that might make it more attractive to those of us who are on the fence.

Yeah, I was trying to figure out if I was reading that correctly, and if it is, I'm thinking we can get a good group to play through the game over XBL. That'd be a TON of fun, and we wouldnt' have to worry about other XBL jackasses.
Especially since Rainbow Six has a pretty decent following, from what I hear, and if we try and play anything not among beekeepers, we're likely to be even more frustrated than on Halo2.

You sure it has online co-op??? If so, I might have to get it!!
I just don't think the price will be the same on all gamestops ...

I've heard from at least three sources/articles that it has online co-op of up to 4 people.
And all gamestops SHOULD have the same price. Gamestop is a nationwide chain, and thus, all the prices are dictated by HQ. For the most part, they should be about the same prices seen on gamestop.com, and they have Rainbow Six listed for $7.99 , so you should be able to get it for that price regardless.

Actually IIRC Gamestop is mostly franchise, not chain, but the price competition in the industry should keep them in line just the same.

Huh. Didn't know that. Still, I'd think that most of the prices would be kept similar, either by market forces or by decree of some sort by HQ. Even if they're still franchise, don't they still have to follow some sort of rules about costs and such?

You're talking about the cost of a used game, which means that someone has purchased it, done whatever with it, and taken it back to get money. Chances are that if they have used copies of Rainbow Six 3 for $7.99 then they might've been scratched to hell. Either that, or it's just a really old game.
If you can, ask to see the disc before you buy it. If there's a few light scracthes on it, then you can use a Disc Doctor and take 'em out. Just make sure the thing's playable before you make your purchase. Lord knows I've been screwed out of a few good used games that way. x.x;;

It's just really old. I just picked it up from my local Gamestop; they had about 10 copies, all were marked $9.99, but when I took it to the register it rung up at $7.99.
I buy used games all the time and have had no problem with them. I don't doubt that some people do have trouble, but I haven't had any yet. I believe most game retailers will accept an exchange for the same title within a week (some are two weeks), which isn't a whole lot of time, but is at least enough time for you to put it in and play a level or two so you know the thing's playable. (Of course the game could be ruined in later/unplayed levvels, but you'll have no way of knowing that unless you beat the whole game within a week)
At any rate, I'll be home in the next hour and a half or so, so if anyone wants to play post send me an invite (you can send them even if people are offline) or drop me an IM (Rufo Sanch on AIM).

I'll see it I can pick it up tomorrow. My play time in the near future will probably be limited, however.

Gamefly sells it for ~10 bucks, BTW. Their stuff usually is in much better condition than BBV/Gamestop if only because there are not 7 generations of stickers for price and store and ads on it.

So I think we're goign to try and get on tonight at some point, say... 7:30ish (EST)?
Anyone who wants to join us is more than welcome, although I think there are only 4 spots in the co-op missions, which is likely what we're going to be trying. Hopefully we'll see a couple of people on!

well, I got the game. However, I returned from work today to discover my internet access is dead. I can still 'borrow' the neighbor's wireless, but not for the Xbox.
Comcast can't get anyone out here till Friday. Le sigh.

Grr. I'd like to play but am a bit busy at the moment. Hopefully I'll be home soon, but possibly as late as 9PM.
I'll send the ol' message/invitey thing if I get back early.
