Reggie has a name After the meet with Caretaker last night, Jamesi and I were invited to a conference room with Reggie who was being bullied by two new people (new to us), these are the Greys Reggie has referred to before, I think.
Couple new bits of information:
Reggie is Marcus Andover.
Wheezy (and probably others there) must have been part of the same operation that Reggie/Marcus is part of.
THINGS TO TELL REGGIE IF YOU SPEAK TO HIM:
Tell him "steffmage" knows which gambit they are playing (the Troll or Bully one) it is a desperation move, meant to get us to move something and create an opening. Don't get flustered - they are trying to force him to make a mistake. We still have time to plan our moves ahead.
Tell Reggie if we make a strong reply they will be forced to move their pieces out of jepardy, if they don't we will be able to remove both of them from the board easily.
Reggie sees himself as a Pawm. I don't think that is the case. He may see himself capturing on the diagonal, but Bishops do that as well.

The chess metaphor is getting quite strong in here...

Dishboy, it is the Cipher that Reggie is using to communicate, at the moment. If that keeps him secure and listening that is what we need.
So yep, I'm using it.

I don't think Reggie is using any sort of "Chess Cipher Talk". Mind you he's not ignoring it and answers your questions when you use the chess analogy, but I see him talking to others without it.
I think it's a personal way of relating you have formed with him, which is great, but I don't think it's a "standard".

EDIT*** I see that he is using chess moves in his blog...so maybe you're more on track than I am, chess definitely comes into play (I still maintain we can chat with him without it though.....otherwise does it mean those of us non-versed in the game don't get to "play"?) lol....and believe me, I tried for years to learn....it was a no go!

Apparently I was misunderstood, I never suggested that the chess-talk should stop, or to start any debate as to whether or not Reggie uses it for any specific purpose. I just thought it was pretty humorous how skillfully Magesteff wields her chess knowledge in a standard conversation...

I didn't misunderstand you at all, I saw your "winky"....I was offering my opinion only.
I, too did not suggest the chess talk stop, and I agree Mage has a great chess talk relationship going with Reggie (WhooHoo keep it up!)
What I was responding to was this request/suggestion:

that we use
I was simply saying that not all of us are versed in the lingo, and although she's got it going on with Reggie/Chess (Again WhooHoo!...I am not detracting from this by any means)), I don't think it's absolutely neccessary (as evidenced by other convos sans chess refs.) for us to use it to get anywhere with him. That's all...no huge debate. A simple observation.

Know a good bit of language at the "beginners and Novice" level of terminology, I am not very good at playing at more than a beginners level. Like Reggie/Marcus, I have trouble "seeing" more than one or two moves at a time.

greys I think we should be devoting some of our time to pumping the "greys". We should be getting Reggie to tell us an sn's that he encouters so that we might have a chat with them as well. Just as it became apparent between all of us "smart people" we are a little aprihencious about blindly trusting the caretaker. We are very little into this game and don't fully know who to trust yet so I say that we talk to the greys as well. WE DO NOT REVEAL ANYTHING OR BREAK TRUST WITH REGGIE OR CARETAKER but we learn all we can and start making this board a little easier to see.

Midknight, who put you in charge? Suggestions are welcome; the players will play as they see fit.

I think we should only communicate in movie quotes.

Agreed we need to put some pressure on them. Anyone who goes around making threats is not a "good" person in my book.
Not to mention at this point they are giving away more information than we know. Can't tell what we don't know.
Red Knight/Caretaker is just a "crutch" to Reggie as far as I am concerned, in the meaning that he has made Reggie feel a bit more secure. Reggie is the one with the information we need. The only new bit of information that Caretaker added to our knowledge Thursday was the fact that he didn't like the fact that the NRU research was being coopted for a different purpose than originally intended. That makes me willing to give him another hearing if he asks, but doesn't mean I am going to jump right up and do everything he asks without checking it six ways first.
I understand Troll Intimidation tactics (psychological ops), and they don't work on me. If that means I get to be the blocking piece for Reggie then so be it. I don't see myself as a pawn, I can move in more than one direction and more than one square at a time.

Sorry to come off a little too harsh, wasn't trying too. Sometimes opinions sound like facts with be but nothing meant by them. I simply think that it may prove to be a wise course of action.
