[PUZZLE] Third Alternative The Balance has given us the choice of who dies: Amanda vs. the other five hostages.
However, we've been given a rather substantial amount of time to decide this, leading to the possibility that there may be a way to save them all.
Ideas?

I don't know if it's been tried yet, but I'm going to go to The Balance's site (where you sign up) and E-Mail them for an answer to our plight. Any other E-mails I should try? I have one or 2 others, but I think I've missed some durring the game.

Surely there has to be a way.
Ok, what messages did we get from the packages:
(this is basicly just a collection of what the mp3's said)
1) email.mp3 - "A Mr G Wilson has an email address. He was born in 1954. I believe he is a Hotmail user. Perhaps he saw something."
2) jrg.mp3 - "JRG Marketing should be expecting a letter."
3) hacked.mp3 - "I have reason to believe that a certian mr Ian Denby has had his webspace infultrated by the balance. If my research is correct the ballance has secretly hosted some important information on that server without him knowing. I am yet to discover what that information is exactly. I shall keep you informed."
4) imposter.mp3 - "In 2004, a young man named Ben Abhu managed to steal hundereds of pounds from the ballance head quarters by posing as number 2 in the organisation. Perhaps you could see what he knows. He uses Yahoo."
5) jaded.mp3 - "Word has it that one of the most influential members of the balance is becomming disbonded with the heirarchy system in the eadership. He reportedly stormed into the office of number 1, demanding more control over the balance. Perhaps you could get in touch with this member. A clue is hidden on the Balance's webpage."
6) derwent.mp3 - "Roger Derwent is dead."
7) dubois.mp3 - "Michel Dubois is planning a meeting with his two primary understudies to determine the future of the Balance. I suggest you keep an eye on the intranet for any updates."
Still unsure about building.jpg, but may be linked to http://thebalance.0nyx.com/inside.htm
(although now I look at it, this seems more linked to 7)
So here's one possibility,
maybe we can get Ben Abhu to give us some way to cantact number the former number 3.
What other approaches could there be?

might I be so kind as to point to a quote chippy made several days ago?
http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=11592&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=45 I think the answer to saving 6 lives lies within the packages that were sent.

OK, lets slow down a bit...
From earlier conversations we've heard/had, it looks as if Amanda went into hiding all by herself (or maybe thecarer or theunidentified intervened?) Why should we believe that #2 has her?
New information is that we've had contact from the parent of another abductee. That may be a route to finding the group? Contact her and ask for websites ascot may have had running? Somehow linking them to JRG?
Also #1 may not be happy with the plans that #2 is now persuing. Obviously #3 isn't happy either, nor is the ex #18 (the carer), nor the unidentified. That's quite a diverse range of people in the balance that may not like what's going on.
Most of my points in "current situation" thread also hold true still. Lots of loose ends.

Flutesalad, you have contact with the ascot mother and the Unidentified, you need to get leads from both urgently.
.......Please!

I just thought you all should know, early this morning I recieved a response to the E-mail I sent to The Balance:
Quote:
You're not a hero, you know.
We've given you a choice. You now have a little over
24 hours to make that choice. Amanda has the largest
campaign surrounding her; that death alone would cause
as much of a stir as the deaths of the other remaining
five.
You fail to understand: reasoning with us isn't going
to work. We're not stupid, we know the consequences
of killing any amount of people. We're quite prepared
for them. This is a wholly selfless act: an act
against the evils of today's society.
You have 25 hours and 30 minutes.
Thank you very much,
#2
The Balance
Edit: I plan to e-mail tham back... I just hope I don't piss them off too much. I'll try to keep it intelligent and focused. Maybe we could learn something... Also, looking at the "slideshow" again, it tells us that #2 (aka Gareth Derby) is the managing director of JRG marketing... and it tells us that the Balance and JRG marketing are more closely tied than we think. Maybe the answer to saving all 6 has something to do with JRG marketing? (another point talked on in the "current situation" thread)

Heheh, I just emailed the Unidentified saying that Derby doesn't seem one to be bargained with - looks like I wasn't far wrong there! Basically have said that we're running out of time and we're leaning towards Amanda to save the five, but we don't want to have to sacrifice her. And hinted that perhaps there's something we don't know about Derby that we could use against him, or at least buy ourselves time with. I'm awaiting a response for that.
Madeline Ascott got back in touch. With regard to my question about hobbies/bad habits, she said:
Quote:
Hello, thank you very much.
Interests... she loves music but don't all young people? Hehe, she's also quite into films and stuff.
Bad habits? She's a bit lazy I suppose but that's about it.
Madeline
So Jennifer is sloth....other than that I don't know, music and film seem a bit general to yield many clues.
I agree that there's a lot of information in the pack we've yet to use - we may have solved the puzzles but haven't used the clues given in the mp3s to a great extent. I'm thinking we should maybe start contacting Iain Denby, maybe Graeme Wilson and Ben Abhu.......and what about the other members of JRG? Surely they'd know more about Derby? The hard bit is asking the right questions.

How about we don't choose. Thats the only thing we can be certain that they want us to do. Let them kill them all if they want to. My female semi-logical mind is saying they cant do that or the game will end. So, lets not decide. Pretend like we don't care who dies.

Reply from the unidentified:

I probably don't know anything about Gareth that you don't.
There may be a way, hidden somewhere. I'm not sure. All I know is,
you don't have much time if you're to find it. The Balance's plan
seems to be well and truly drawing to a close.
In other words, work it out yourselves
