Calling all WOT addicts! For those eagerly awaiting Book 11 of Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series:
(working title: Come to Papa, You Suckers, 'Cause Robert Jordan Needs a Bigger Boat , sequel to Volume 10, In Which The Entire Story Was People Pointing At The Sky And Saying, "OMGWTFBBQ WHAT IS THAT?!?!11!1", not that Phaedra is getting impatient for Tarmon Gaidon or anything...)
There's an internet hunt/trivia contest to celebrate The Coming Of The Next One.
(I hear it'll be Oct. 11, but that's what they say every time, prior to releasing it in March...)

O Wheel of Time, how you disappointed me! To tell you the truth, I couldn't make it through book 10. It was so amazingly dull! It seemed to be all descriptions of dresses and how people take their tea and such. The series was AMAZING up until 10, but 10 just seemed like an attempt by Robert Jordan to make more profit off of the series by extending it with a book that's less than stellar. Oh well...

There was more plot advancement in a single chapter of Books 1-9 than in the entire 1000+ pages of Book 10.
But RJ promises that Book 11 will have enough action to make up for it.

* CreativeEmbassy has already started Tarmon Gaidon, but is still waiting anxiously for other people to notice. Man, why doesn't the media believe in Said'in?
BTW, did I spell that right? It's been a looong time since I read the series. Rand al'Thor is dead to me.

Probably because of the Compulsion I've been using on them. <shrug>

The only thing I've gotten from reading this far into the WoT series is the distrubing urge to name a child "Nynaeve"
Would that make me a bad parent?

Yes.
The only appropriate WOT names for women are "Lanfear" and "Mesaana."

I got through the Crossroads of Woopdeedoo and promptly gave up on the series. From what I hear, I'm not missing anything.
I mean, it seems like the whole Harry Potter series was written in the time it to Mr. Jordan to write two books. This suckers been going on for like 15 years.

No frickin' kidding.
Although, in his defense, WOT is a little more complex than Harry Potter.

The problem is every time a new one comes along I have to read the others in order to know what's going on...there're too many Aes sedai with identical personalities to know which one is which.
I was 13 when I read EOTW and am now 26...I know I'll buy it and read it, but it won't be right. Moiraine should never have been killed off, I keep expecting her to pop out of a mirror.

I don't think we'll see Moiraine again sadly. See kept eyeing that doorway into Finnland and being all ominous and such after she exited Rhuidean. She might not be dead, but she's trapped in Finnland for good methinks.

But that would mean that Min's visions were wrong, as well as the predictions Moiraine got that she would marry Thom. And as we, the readers, know, Min is never wrong.

Well, here I am reviving a dead topic, but I was just wondering what people thought since the book has come out. I wasn't going to get it, but I was given a gift card to Border's for my birthday and was told that they put EXACTLY enough money on it to buy the book. I was pleasantly suprised. After CoT I was ready to give up on the series. I hadn't touched the books at all since I read it. Knife of Dreams reminded me what I liked about the series. It finally wrapped up some story lines! Things happened! It amazed me, because it actually prompted me to want to read the books again and to seek out WOT info on the web. I haven't done that in years. WOT is what brought me out to the internet in the first place way back when. I sorta felt like I was reliving my childhood again I've heard that the next book will be the last... Finally! Although it probably won't be out for another 5-10 years I suppose. Anyway, those are my brief thoughts on the book... anyone else have an opinion?
