SOLVED: "Play Chess With Turk" Reggie mentioned the other day that they were logging Keystrokes. I think this may be his work around.
This section also in Puzzles, LL mentioned it may be a rail cipher, not my stronges skill gang, this part is all yours to figure out. Reggie also made a point of resigning a good bit, sometimes even before a move was made. Could be his computer is screwy, to so read what you want into the following:
Quote:

found this...
http://games.cs.ualberta.ca/TheTurk/
does he want us to practice?
Or perhaps he's referring to the chess automaton "The Turk" from the 1700's. It was a clockwork machine that people actually believed could play championship chess.

http://www.queensac.com/turk.html
Does Reggie think he is just a machine? Maybe because he's back on his meds?

Could he be proposing a code and refusing to talk any more until we figuer out what his first couple statements meant and are able to respond in kind?

I attempted to get a game going at this site and was given the message:
Quote:
WWW: problems in connecting to The Turk server"
"Last Modified: April 4, 1996 Unexpected error occured, please restart program!"
Since the latest "modified date I came across on the pages was Feb 1988, I think the students running this have graduated and moved on to other things, and the program was deleted, but not the associated web pages.
http://www.theturkbook.com/home.php and
http://www.cnn.com/2002/SHOWBIZ/books/05/30/the.turk/
Historical TURK - automaton run by gears that played chess later to be shown a hoax :
Quote:
Contemporaries in 18th- and 19th-century Europe were baffled. They examined the intricate gears and precisely wrought machinery of "The Turk" -- as they called the strange machine -- and many concluded that it was, indeed, an incredible achievement, a machine that could think.
It was an incredible achievement. It was also a hoax.
The hoax involved a chess champion under the machine working the gears and winning the matches.
I suspect Reggie is trying to tell us that the "games" are the illusion covering the fact that there is a real person feeding us information.
I think Reggie is still palming the meds and recovering his smarts. He is the man behind the machine... er... hiding behind the madness.

Black can check in two moves, by moving the bishop.

One of the more famous games played by The Turk was when he/it was challenged by Napoleon Boneparte in 1809. I'm not sure if it's important, but here's a copy of that game.

That is a great site! btw, after Wht's d4 move, Blk could capture either of Wht's pawns by exd4 or Nxe4

i'm not mapping out these moves, and can't see them in my head. Could they be spelling letters or semaphore or something else on the board?

Excuse me if this is a duplicate But everywhere here I see everyone stopping at d4. We were just in Yahoo chess and he said 8 moves:
e4
e5
Nf3
Nf6
d4
d5
Nc3
Nc6
Again, if this is already here I apologize. Just wanted to make sure all moves were posted. These are the moves he said, not the ones he really executed.

Attached are the games played on Yahoo! Chess. Notice that xover222 plays similar moves each game.
Note: xover222 resigned each game.
Before he played on Yahoo! Chess he was playing a game with me through messenger. I wrote the moves down that he played, which are very similar to the moves he played on Yahoo Chess:
