Got it (with help from STL's comments on the IU boards).

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Not as tough as I thought. Take your keyboard. The pipes (|) are row numbers, the dashes (-) are key numbers. So, |----- = row 1, key 5, or t. SO...translates to "tiles", which leads us to tiles.htm

Alright, now I'm guessing from the symbols that they each represent one of the defect puzzles we got. Like the flag would represent flags.png. I also assume we need to put these in order, possibly in the order we got them. So, here's the list I've got (broken into 3 groups of 4 and 1 group of 2, like the tiles):

tile-------------------- puzzle
--------------------------------
scramble-----------scram.jpg
three dots------------dottodot.jpg
airplane----------guess.jpg
--- --------------julietsspecialday.jpg

--- ---------------MCDefect.mp3
slash--------------caution.html
--- -----------------dos.png
heart----------------heart.jpg

--- --------------himno_nacional.png
number 8---------sicai-latoc.png
--- -----------------rojo.png
letters-----------defect.png

eight dots----------azul.png
flag--------------flags.png

My thoughts on the rest... dos is likely the blocks (the first tile). MCDefect.mp3 could be the musical note or the morse code (..--). himno_nacional.png could be the musical note. rojo could be the stegasaurus.

Feel free to add to the list.

Solve, new stuff

OK, few things to say... Kevin dropped into the channel and chatted a while... And after he left I put some time into the tiles puzzle and managed to crack it... For those who want to move straight on:

[16:50:03] <KAshley>Hey, anyone here?
[16:50:41] <wintermute>Hi Kevin, what's up?
[16:50:53] <KAshley>Hello wintermute
[16:51:05] <KAshley>Not too much, how about you?
[16:52:03] <wintermute>same really, I'm going away in a week so I'm just planning things for that
[16:52:23] <KAshley>Really? Where to?
[16:52:56] <JustLurking>hi Kevin
[16:53:01] <wintermute>germany, spain and england
[16:53:02] <KAshley>Hey JustLurking
[16:53:07] <wintermute>hey justin
[16:53:39] <KAshley>Cool, sounds like fun
[16:54:54] <KAshley>So, have you guys gotten anywhere with that darkness page?
[16:55:53] <JustLurking>yeah
[16:56:02] <JustLurking>looks like it was referring us to the stylesheet
[16:56:05] <JustLurking>style.css
[16:56:24] <JustLurking>and there's a draob.key in there
[16:56:30] <JustLurking>which translates to tiles
[16:56:46] <JustLurking>so now we're at tiles.htm
[16:57:16] <KAshley>Ah, I see
[16:57:42] <KAshley>Erm, what is all this stuff?
[16:58:25] <wintermute>good question... it looks as though the symbols correspond to puzzles that Defect guy has used before
[16:58:31] <JustLurking>we think that the symbols on there have to do with the defect puzzles we got
[16:59:39] <KAshley>Aha, I see
[17:00:28] <KAshley>So those three dots would represent that braille puzzle?
[17:00:40] <JustLurking>we would think so
[17:02:50] <KAshley>So what do you suppose we're supposed to do with them?
[17:04:12] <KAshley>Put them in the order they were given to us?
[17:08:38] <JustLurking>that;'s what we've tried
[17:08:46] <JustLurking>but either we don't have the right symbols
[17:08:52] <JustLurking>or that's not correct
[17:09:55] <JustLurking>we tried going from the first puzzle in the upper left, across the rows
[17:11:13] <KAshley>What order have you put them in?
[17:12:34] <KAshley>Well, I mean, the one you think was closest

[17:15:56] <KAshley>Hm, blocks?
[17:16:26] <KAshley>If it's the one I'm thinking of, it's not all blocks
[17:16:51] <KAshley>It doesn't really look like dos.png, it looks more like...
[17:16:54] <KAshley>Hm...
[17:17:45] <KAshley>Oh
[17:18:00] <KAshley>It looks kind of like that maze on libereelmundo.org
[17:24:03] <JustLurking>I'm here
[17:24:11] <JustLurking>blocks is the first one from the default tile
[17:24:37] <KAshley>Yeah, it doesn't really look like dos.png
[17:24:54] <KAshley>There's two diagonal lines in there
[17:25:04] <KAshley>dos.png is all blocks
[17:25:18] <JustLurking>thos weren't there last time I looked Razz
[17:25:27] <KAshley>Ah
[17:25:47] <JustLurking>and neither was ?h?
[17:25:48] <JustLurking>Razz
[17:25:51] <JustLurking>it's changed
[17:26:07] <wintermute>yeh the steg has disappeared too
[17:26:08] <KAshley>Hm
[17:26:19] <KAshley>That's been happening a lot, hasn't it?
[17:26:27] <KAshley>Weird
[17:26:46] <JustLurking>yeah
[17:26:47] <JustLurking>hmmm
[17:26:50] <wintermute>well that facab logo changed a few times, the fashion/style page changed...
[17:27:20] <KAshley>Oh well
[17:27:59] <KAshley>Wasn't MCDefect.mp3 the one with morse code hidden in it?
[17:28:05] <JustLurking>yeah
[17:28:11] <JustLurking>so I Would guess that's for MCDefect
[17:28:15] <JustLurking>and he note is for himno
[17:28:35] - --KAshley has left the chat (Quit: "Client closed connection" ).
[17:28:50] <JustLurking>Razz
[17:28:52] <wintermute>JustLurking: do we have the puzzles listed by date anywhere?
[17:29:08] <JustLurking>by date they were given to us?
[17:29:13] <wintermute>yeh
[17:29:18] <JustLurking>as far as I can tell, the list I posted is the order they were given
[17:29:32] <wintermute>that's weird -- the defect gives us a little time then changes things
[17:29:37] - --User KAshley joined channel #james
[17:29:41] - --ARGbot sets mode +ao KAshley KAshley on  #james
[17:29:48] <wintermute>ok, I suppose the ?H? goes first, where does the maze fit in that puzzle list?
[17:30:34] <JustLurking>there are 16 images and 14 spaces
[17:31:02] <JustLurking>crap, it's late Razz
[17:31:39] <wintermute>shit
[17:32:11] <JustLurking>ok, I gotta go to work
[17:32:12] <JustLurking>later
[17:32:20] <wintermute>later
[17:32:30] <KAshley>Bye JustLurking
[17:40:03] <KAshley>Okay, I'll probably be back later... Goodbye
[17:40:06] - --KAshley has left the chat (Quit: "Quit: " ).

We noted that the little pictures in the tiles had changed... And that there were 16 of them with only 14 tiles... So I decided to scrap the first and last ones (the ?H? and the Maze) and work on the 14 from defstuff; I wasn't around for those puzzles so I went to the old thread and tried to figure out when they came in, came up with the following list:

Quote:
scramble -- scram.jpg
three dots (braille) -- dottodot.jpg
airplane -- guess.jpg
2circles -- julietsspecialday.jpg
morse -- MCDefect.mp3
slash -- caution.html
binary(01) -- dos.png
heart -- heart.jpg
musical note -- himno_nacional.png
number 8 -- sicai-latoc.png
A (black and white) -- rojo.png
letters -- defect.png
eight dots -- azul.png
flag -- flags.

I don't get the 2 interlocking circles, but they were the only image left... Plugged those in and reached:

which has a list of text files, I will keep exploring and report back

Wow, so we go through all that for a hint page that gives no more info. than we had before? This is the exact spot where I became completely stumpped before because we can't work this puzzle like caution.html but backwards...unless I just don't get how caution was solved.

Got it.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
start at the bottom right and work your way up using every other letter just like caution.html except backwards. Then put that in your browser you get a page that says password=betenoire

I know I tried this several times before but it didn't work then.

Yeah, I'm about ready to punch the screen in anger, myself. I tried all of that ages ago too, but on the JAMES site! AAARRRGHHH! I feel better now. Good job working it out!

Well, it seems like the next thing would be to tell someone at FACAB about this. But if I'm reading them correctly, those co-ordinates are for a point about 85km off the coast of Argentina... Is this a boat? That might explain the "chug chug chug" sound James sometimes hears.
