Mixed Card Colour Trading

Just wanted to see what the general concensus is over this issue - I haven't seen it really discussed yet. So, the way I see it, each colour has a points value as below:

Red - 1
Orange - 2
Yellow - 3
Green - 4
Blue - 5
Purple - 6
Black - 7
Silver - 8

Therefore when exchanging cards, an example would be:

1 silver = 8 reds or 2 greens or 1 purple & 1 orange.

How does this seem? What are your experiences so far of the whole ARG trading experience? Of course, this is only a very rough system, and generosity is always a good idea!

I'm inclined to leave it to market forces and ignore these rigid rules. They wouldn't cope with any card inflation, uless there is a monthy meeting between tweleve perplexonomists who decide on new rates for everyone. But that's just a poor idea.

market forces

I have been trying to find a statistical breakdown in numbers of each color of card. Someone mentioned, for example, that based on the sample they had, there seemed to be fewer of one red card than the other red cards. So I don't know if it is possible to make a determination on how valuable a card is based on how rare it is.

Anyway, I am inclined to let market forces rule! If you are only missing one card to make a set, that card will be more valuable to you than it is to others collectors who don't have any of that set.

It's an idea, but in my experience (i.e. having bought 11 packs without any silver cards) silver cards are considerably rarer than half as rare as green cards, say.

I think that instead of a direct Red=1 value, a better trading value would be to look at the Perplex City Points each card is worth. I don't have my cards right now, but trading 3 reds totalling 27 points (for example) for 1 yellow (or whatever) totalling 27 points is a pretty good idea.

Since PXC Points are our only known VALUE of the cards, this seems like the way to go. However, this is just a general guide. There are some cards that I would stack trades for if someone didn't have a dupe. I particularly want the "Harmony" card and might even trade for more than its value.

I agree, since duplicates are worth almost nothing if you already have one. Also from my card-buying experiences, I would say that red and orange, and yellow and green appear to be about as common as each other and therefore may not justify a different ranking in terms of relative worth.

Interesting. I agree that to use the points system I mentioned exclusively would be wrong, but I still think that as a simple (as opposed to PC points) starting point for any exchange, its a good idea.

But I mainly started this thread to hear other peoples views, so its all group.

On a slightly different note, I would be interested in anyone looking at the card distribution so far. Someone should start a database of all cards received from 0.5 packets.

As far as PC points go, it seems that each group of four cards has a higher score than the last, by intervals of one point. However, there do appear to be some exceptions, such as the one that should, according to the pattern, be worth 30 points , but it says 20.
