6[b] seems to be some sort of word search
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
So far, we've found these names in the grid:

machiavelli, luther, bellini, kepler, caravaggio, calvin, botticelli, michaelangelo, bacon, titian, raphael, medici, da vinci, nunes, eyck, nardi, rudan

This leaves us with the letters: ABYUSUFYQUBIBISHAQRAMLSABBAUHALKIHTML

Notice the html at the end - but we haven't been able to do anything with it.

Has anyone tried Enigma on it?

7[a] is a sudoku puzzle.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
strifey figured out the numbers in the sodoku

543 619 278
169 782 453
728 453 619
271 548 396
495 136 827
386 927 541
612 395 784
957 864 132
834 271 965

There also happens to be 23 different colored question marks in the puzzle - 2 of each color. If you consider each of the following initial letters to be a different color, the pairs work out to: A=59 B=46 C=75 D=88 F=66 G=78 I=82 J=61 K=76 L=58 M=75 N=95 O=36 Q=89 R=65 S=97 T=68 U=37 W=85 X=93 Y=71 Z=86

I got a different result for the Soduku:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
543 917 286
179 862 453
628 453 719

261 745 398
485 139 627
397 628 541

712 596 834
956 384 172
834 271 965

And

543 917 268
179 682 453
628 453 719

261 548 397
487 139 526
395 726 841

712 395 684
956 874 132
834 261 975

Since there appear to be multiple solutions to the sudoku, is it possible that the colored pairs of questions marks are a clue to the correct single solution? Like if a red question mark can be solved to numeral 1, then the other one would have to also be 1? I still have no clue how these things work, so I could be way off base here.

'fraid not.

Basic rules of a Sudoku:

  1. Every Row must contain the numbers 1-9, with no duplicates.
  2. Every Column must contain the numbers 1-9, with no duplicates.
  3. Every 3x3 grid must contain the numbers 1-9, with no duplicates.

So the main grid of numbers is split into a 3x3 grid, with each square having 3x3 numbers within it. And as there are two colours the same within one of the 3x3 squares, that can't be it.

Besides, there's too many colours.

At least you asked. It would be more stupid to keep quiet and remain ignorant.

Combine the two?

What about combing the Sodoku and the remaining word search letters somehow? Since both pages are called Puzzle 6, maybe we have to combine the two to get all of puzzle 6?

Does this cause any lightning strikes for anyone?

The Sudoku is Puzzle 7, not 6, and saying that if the others in the chat didn't try Beethoven when I tried Fur Elise, I'd never know Beethoven even existed, I really hope not.

Error in above

I found the question marks in error - someone please confirm my set vs. those in one of the above posts:

In order of the first Q-mark of a given color, I get:

59 46 75 88 66 78 82 75 82 61 76 58 95 36 75 89 65 97 68 37 93 77 86 85

Thanks.

Wouldn't that depend on which answer to the Soduku you are using?

I liked the ??/alphabet idea, and then thought about using it to decode the letter string, but with no less than 3 possible answers for the Soduku, I quickly got frustrated...lol

I'm confused (ya what else is new) about the sudoku. Why do the solutions posted contain different locations for the listed numbers? For example...line one on sudoku.gif is 7?3 81? 2??, but the solutions have the seven and eight in different positions?

Are you replacing the colored numbers with question marks?

Oh look, a change

Looks like they filled in one number, the top left, as a 7, to help us figure out which soduku answer is correct.

Someone post the solution and the "?" number pairs, please.
