I have been thinking. Jim climbed into the trunk, but we don't know how he got out of it.

there is evidence of blocked thoughts, like Jim is just remembering the entire ordeal.

How did he get out of the trunk?

It seems the only things left that are really obscure surround:

Jims Father
Marthas Relationship to him
The north wing
and Watermark Consolidated, and what the experiments are.

we can make a jump that martha works for the competition due to the swedish yodeling. (not a 100% accurate, but strong enough to mention) If watermark was killing off those that didn't obey, fit, whatever...

I think martha will be shown to have been the one to pull jim from the trunk of the car, rescuing her lovers child. Or maybe even something as perverse as Martha giving up Jim for adoption to Al Prufrock at some point prior... dunno that last thought just popped in for a visit. More analysis...

something that is peculiar, he doesn't mention is mother janine at all. Be it, live, dead, in a home, twitching neurotic alcoholic... nothing. (ponderings better left for a different thread)

 		sorry about that, wrong board. lol... sigh...

still, the book does shed light on your questions. jim is jean and al's kid. al met martha in push and enlisted her assistance to begin watermarks takeover of push. al prufrock and t.s. griffin, (partners who started watermark), were the two talking in the car when jim was in the trunk, so apparantly they let him out. al prurfock did not die in 86, and we can suppose was responsible for bailing jim from jail as there was movement on his offshore account at roughly that time.

 		Yep I read it. This was posted a week before hand though Smile

Still holds though about jim being rescued by martha though, he had to have escaped somehow Smile
