Made In China

no ones said anything about the "MADE IN CHINA" comment printed on the side of the picture of the card box, just behind the lines of code. Its written in white on black. You recon its a clue.... because why else would it be there?

I don't think that it is a clue, I have the card BTW. I think that it is odd that it is there, after all, Perplex City can't receive items from Earth. [OOG] What I think happened is that MInd Candy put the back card onto a pack of normal cards, and took a picture of it.[/OOG]

Entropy... heat.. hot dog I think I've got it Wink

I took the card and gently warmed it and low and behold the card changes, the first two blocks the the last two blocks fade away leaving:

WBBMC HGFIB LXCQY WEZFL ITHPJ LFHWY ETKWY LJOTY YNGYJ BIOGI FUVMR
XIHGU RAGXH NQHRS XAWHU FJTAM SMMOS MVBAA KPGVV WXOVM YKZPL LUL

So you outward looks, ie those who are only looking at a picture of the card are been left out in the cold Smile

Well done, particularly for a new guy, to find someting like this is incredible. But, the line break (i don't think) is right. there are (now) 108 letters. if the line break is put before the R, and not after, we have a full deck, plus 2 jokers, in each line. There are four possible places for the marked joker, the first two letters in each line (one for each joker), or the last two. This gives the initials W.R., B.X.,, V.U., and M.L.
Can anyone think whose initials these are?

OK, with the letters missing it's obviously a solitaire cypher. I don't have an app, so am going to do it by hand!

OK, I have tried numerous combinations, but I have no idea what I am doing. I'm gonna leave this to someone who knows about solitaire.

A question about Solitaire Ciphers:

The 4-letter key used to generate the cipher (a la AADA in Cryptonomicon) ... can that include any numbers? I only ask because I'm still hung up on the ACB3 from Pirates vs Ninjas.

[EDIT] I'm pretty satisfied that ACB3 is just the artist's sig now.

If anyone has spare time try 3ea5 for a 4 character key... dunno if it accepts numbers though.

Hmm. I wonder if we have to do anything with the vanishing/appearing groups of five. Are they extraneous, or might they be the password/phrase?
For the record:

There looks to be some kind of code on the side of the pack of cards but due to the crappy quality I can't make it out Mad

what it says on the side of the pack is "Made in China".
