By the way, in general, in response to those who say "how could Perplexians have Sony Ericsson cell phones?" I say this:

PERPLEX CITY did not make the cards. They may create the puzzles, but it is Mind Candy that creates the image for the cards. So if a "puzzle scribe", especially one like von, tells Mind Candy: "this is how I'd like the puzzle to go" then that's how it's done, but since MIND CANDY can't have keys, this is the closest we get to seeing the original concept in Von's mind.

Does that make sense?

I'm not 100% sure about that, I'm afraid... I got the impression that each card was designed by the puzzle scribes in Perplex City, and that the images were sent across to Earth - reason I say that is that some of the illustrations appear to be in the same style (ie by the same artist) as the images mocked up for the Sentinel etcetera. Or maybe, more likely, is that they know of our mobile phones and predictive text systems, and von threw together the puzzle and asked the MC team to make the card so it appeared to be on a mobile phone. Or, another option is that it's not a Sony Erricson mobile phone, but instead a key in "Earth Style" - since that seems to be so popular at the moment in Perplex City. Or maybe I'm reading too much into it - maybe it's just a puzzle. Smile

I think the cards are more of a collaborative thing--some are provided by Perplex City, some are created by Mind Candy. After all, a number of them specifically say they were created by people on Earth (the Hieroglyphs come to mind.)

That being said, this one looks like is authored by Von. It is entirely possible that Von came up with the logic of the puzzle himself, knowing about Earth technology and predictive typing, and then left it up to Mind Candy to properly illustrate things.

Might not mean anything at all, but the header date hasn't happened yet. As September is month 09, the numbers give us 24-09-05 14:04, or 240-905-1404.

This, combined with one of the newly added FAQ entries got me wondering...

Quote:
When will the next wave of cards be released?
The next wave, comprising another 66 cards, will be released around late September/early October.

I just got this card in a pack I bought today. Does this message seem unusually "wordy" for a text message? People abbreviate even with predictive texting. And this sender of this message was in a hurry.

Example:
For "kiss" many people text "X" or 9 which no way translates to "lips" but 5477 or KISS stands for "keep it simple stupid."

I haven't gone through the whole message, just my first two thoughts are "no one I know texts like this" and, as others have mentioned "what's up with the date?"

Meh, I text like that... Free texts + having used predictive text and owning the same phone for about 4 years mean that I'm actually quicker at that than using abbreviations... Hey ho...

Actually, they have even managed to screw up the new blackberry keyboard. Now each key has 2 letters attributed to it. WHY?

Has anyone noticed that the planned date for the building maintenance system at Ascendency Point is the same as the date on this card?

Well this date has come and gone. Guess it was nothing.

The 'F' in 'after' is not funny shaped

the top line of pixels is just missing due to the text message being scrolled down

If you look at the letter 'i' in the first line you can see the dot on the letter is only 1 pixel whereas in all the other lines it is 2 pixels

same goes for the 'h'

top line of pixels is missing hence the 'f' looks different

can anyone with the phone shown confirm that scrolling down on texts can remove the top line of pixels from the letters?

I agree the 'f' looks weird and its nothing to do with the photo but i dont think there is any relevace to it and its just the way the phone in question displays texts

Did I make a mistake, or is the website not accepting the answer properly? I typed it in exactly (my answer was the same as the spoiler above), but it wasn't accepted. I even made sure that the punctuation and case matched up... ??
