I think we can all agree that "hopper" seems to imply someone jumping in time.

What is important here seems to be to understand in which order these messages come to us. It would seem as they are jumbled in time-sequence, which could be our next puzzle to solve.

That, as well as understanding where he is and why. Perhaps we can call the major american airlines and ask for a ticket registered in the name of Jake Starkhey. If I didn't misunderstand it, he said he did use his real name. And this either implies for us to search for it, or that Jake Starkhey ISN'T his real name at all.

We could postulate that our dear Jake was a hopper himself well before these guys finish (are going to finish) their project and that he has fled into time for some reason. That would explain his paranoia against other hoppers.

This could also be interpreted to mean that where ever he is, he's operating under an alias to throw off any persuers. In this case, he slipped up and used his real name to make reservations...
