Email #69 (and some spec) Man, they are really pushing the "Jane is evil" aspect. I'm beginning to suspect that it's not really her that's involved. Maybe it's her assistant, Bonnie, who presumably would have access to all the same info Jane has about Sam.

I just can't get over the fact that the chances that Jane was involved with the cult before Sam approached her are so incredibly slim, especially given her early reaction to the story and cult.
If she's involved, I suppose it's because of her "mercenary" side, as her ex said. She could have been contacted by Simone - either having known her in the past or not - and paid enough to betray Sam. Even as old friends, it's not like they've been close.
In any case, I think Sam is nuts for staying. She's definitely not paying attention to her self preservation instincts.
My thoughts,

Well, here's some straws we can grasp to feed the fires of speculation.
Perhaps Jane hired Simone to make the website and web edition of the newspaper. Simone could either have lorded that over her to help her out, or maybe Jane really is in deeper with the Daughters. Granted its an amazing coincidence, but that could be the only reason Jane agreed to publish the article.
Now what about the amazing resurfacing of Tom? Funny how Jane used her own byline on Tom's article. (#70) Not if Jane really did write the article and has now taken on an email alias of Tom (someone both Sam and Jane knew) to lead Sam on. If Sam falls for the bait to meet Tom, she might find Jane instead, or just a wild goose chase.
Gupfee, I do like the idea of Jane being a red herring however and the true mole could be the assistant, Bonnie. Ye olde diversion trick.

I think the re-introduction of Tom into the scene is interesting also...
Perhaps..
Peter and Jane are both involved, and Sam will discover this and hook back up with Tom in the end....

I trust nobody at this point, and I think Sam's being a little too free and easy with the information she's giving out (like to Simone's ex).

What if Tom's involved? I mean, he could be lying about his dislike for Jane.

After listening to everyone in chat talk about how much of a cliffhanger #77 was, I decided to actually read all these emails that have been piling up in my archived mail (I stopped reading them at 20 or so).
And.....
This story is GREAT
Run while you can Sam! Buy new things, for the sake of John!!!!!
Where's the next email?!
And finally.... why did I ever stop reading these?

Alright, if they leave the suspense going for too much longer, I just might start pulling out hair
Now excuse me as I get back to refreshing again and again and again and again and again...
