I got this email too. I am assuming it was from entering my email address on perplexcity.com some time in 2004. I had no idea what an ARG was at the time and completely forgot about it until I stumbled across unforums earlier this year. I expect we'll get a number of other people joining in the coming weeks who did exactly the same thing

More the merrier.
They do also seem to be a few that ordered the cards and then found the forums later.

Ive been following it all for quite some time but there hasnt been any reason for me to post.
First found out about the game in the november issue of firefox magazine and didnt really follow it up for a couple of weeks.
Since then Ive been reading up but you guys all seem to post before I even find what your posting about =)
the cards gave me a way to get a bit more into it I suppose
Also got this mail. All looks very interesting. Probably more clues as the weeks go by

Wow. You managed to figure out his super-secret code? How long did that take you?
And back on the topic of Scarlett's email, there's further discussion of it in the original thread .

as cookster was saying i think the email from scarlett was due to entering our email addresses (can never remember how to spell that) on the PPC website when its was the letter splash. i dont seem to remember entering my email on scarletts site or there actually being and email subscrition box on there at all...

I fFeel like i'm splitting threads or something. but like, i put two or three addresses into the ol teaser email signup sheet, and none of them got scarlett's mail, until uhm yesterday? when i signed up on scarlett's site explicitly. so i dont think it's fFrom that list -- unless sente still hates me and deleted my name fFrom that list. which is quite possible.
sente really really hates me, you know.

Interesting. I never signed up to Scarlett's blog, so I assumed she was using Sente's list from PPC.com, as she says in the mail. Maybe she just got a complete list from MindCandy with every e-mail they had in their lists?

I think at some point I've signed up to every list or sent mail to every address going in this game. I always get Sente's emails (though not, in the case of the 333/riddle one, quite as early as other people ) but didn't get Scarlett's until I put my address in the new box on her site. Therefore, perhaps she just sent messages to the first half of the original PPC list or something.

I got Scarlet's email twice, once my new address which I used to sign up to her mailing list, and then again from my old address which I used when I signed up to Sente's mailing list months ago.

Hmm, I suspect I know how these new email addresses were picked: It wasn't widely advertised, but back in the times of the original postcard (24-digit number and all), I believe some people got a copy along with a Firebox order placed at about that time. If MC can bundle postcards in with orders, why not just borrow a handfull of addresses from the newsletter for Sente, and therefore Scarlett too. Or is that in breach of some kind of T & C?

never played an arg before, although I was following this slightly after reading about it in a firebox catalogue, I dunno where I came across this site, I can't actually remember, I think I was doing some googling on ppc and found it. Maybe I put my email in a box on firebox at one point, could be the reason/
