Serenity ARG? Or just viral marketing?

 		Okay, it seems we're at a 'wait and see' point now.


So I am going to ramble for a bit. Heh.

So, I am thinking, either they plan to maybe release another clip sometime this week, or maybe, if it is an arg, we're just not thinking along the right lines.

Maybe we need to start thinking in game? Like, how would one get this video clip from the Alliance? Did someone hack the cortex? Or maybe (Spoilers for the first two issues of the comic books)

Dobson somehow got ahold of it and released it? He is/was, after all, an alliance cop. He'd have access to it, maybe.


Just some random thoughts...

Also, I hope everyone keeps in mind that not all of us were lucky enough to see any of the pre-screenings of Serenity, and have to wait 'till Sept 30th. So watch the spoilers yea?

As far as I know the only possible in-game contact we have is the mysterious Paul Probo. I've tried Google, BitTorrent search, and even whois but haven't found anything.

 		Looking for Paul Probo
Has anyone looked at the Serenity movie poster or trailer for clues to Paul Probo? Just thought about this... in the "I Love Bees" (AKA "Haunted Apiary") ARG, the trailhead was given in the HALO2 trailer. In "The Beast", there was a clue on the A.I. movie poster. (Yes I know many people on this forum know that already, but for the newcomers...)

Just wondering if anyone has pursued these yet. I'm at work right now so I can't do much myself until later this evening. I sent this to the Session-416 Yahoo group as well.

 		I wouldn't be so quick to call Paul Probo in game. Aparently, Mr. Probo simply directed the people over on a Summer fansite to iFilm. He isn't the person who originally leaked it or anything spectacular like that. It would be interesting if we could get ahold of him though, to find out one way or the other. So in the interest of finding Mr. Probo, I've e-mailed a few people at the Summer fansite.

Of course that's the most likely explanation. The reasons it intrigued me are: One, the fansite puts the name in quotes, which it doesn't do for any other sources for things it has mentioned previously; and two, even though the fansite clearly is aware of my interest (they posted a link to my session416.com site), they have not responded to either of my two inquiries into Paul Probo's identity/existence.

 		The Summer Glau site has the movie stored on their server. I wonder where they got it from? Was it e-mailed to them? Or is there some external link to it?

Someone from the Session-416 group e-mailed me earlier with an interesting theory but I'll hold off mentioning it for now - only because I don't think s/he sent it to the entire group and I don't want anyone to think I'm stealing credit. Smile If this person doesn't get it out there within a few hours I'll forward it myself.

 		FYI, the person behind that Summer Glau fansite which posted the video added a comment to a "Paul Probo" thread over at the official 'Versal boards:

He approves of this clip, and shows it to people. I never studied Latin - anyone wanna confirm the translation?

In the Bible, Paul is known as the "apostle to the Gentiles." He converted many non-Jews to Christianity, which had previously been something of a Jewish sect. So, transferring that over...perhaps this guy's purpose is to convert non-Browncoats to Firefly-fandom. Mr. Green

 		I keep swinging back and forth on Mr. Probo, first I'm totally convinced he's in game. Then, I'm totally convinced he's not... now I'm back to the beginning again. Well, maybe not totally convinced, but I'm not saying he's OOG either. We tried Googlisming Paul Probo, for the hell of it, and turned up with nothing.

Who is Paul Probo?

 		Maybe it's wishful thinking but it all seems to setup. And both the fact that his response sounds so formulated and that he's so hard to find (Google and the like) it's clearly marketing in my mind. It seems the only question is how far does it go?

If it really is an ARG though I have high expectations... I see names here from ILB which I am still lamenting the end off. HI ALL! Smile

So where is our 2nd clue that starts the ball rolling?

 		Got this e-mail earlier from "E", a member of the Session 416 Yahoo group, and it relates to what Omnie was saying above:

So I searched paul in latin as well. While there is no paul that
stands alone ther are these three:

paulatim : gradually, litle by little.
paulisper : for a little while, for a short time.
paululum : very small, very little.

So it would appear that paul in latin has something to do with a size
or amount, seemingly small in nature.

So my deduction is "Paul Probo" is "Showing gradually"

How was that?


"Showing gradually" certainly raises ARG suspicion in my mind. I really hope this develops further! I'm really excited! Smile

If I remember right, ARGs tend to update on the same day each week, correct? I think the Session 416 video first surfaced last Wednesday, so hopefully we won't be waiting much longer.
