Morse Code, NATO Phonetic Alphabet, Semaphore, Hieroglyphs..

Cool little tool for converting text to Morse Code, NATO Phonetic Alphabet, Semaphore, Hieroglyphs, British Sign Language, International Marine Signal Flags, Braille, Chinese, Klingon, or Dwarf Runes.

be advised that the Chinese and Klingon "translations" provided by that page are merely alphabetic substitutions. The fonts might look cool, but I wouldn't want show the results to any native speakers.

Not knowing much about languages, could you explain what you mean?

Does that mean they have just taken random Chinese/Klingon chars and made up their own alphabet? Or that they are using the Chinese/Klingon alphabet but spelling words out with it rather than using chars that actually mean the word being spelled?

Does that question make any sense at all?....lol

As a native speaker of Klingon, I'm shocked by the use of alphabetic substitution. As if your puny language could ever compare to the glory and might of the language of the Klingon Empire. I DEMAND retribution - A battle to the death with the puny boy scouts to avenge our honor!

Now where did I put my sharp, shiny, stick thingy?

Kinda Very Happy I think this is the answer you're looking for.

The program translates english letters into [insert language here] letters. But it doesn't translate english words into [insert language here] words. So if I type an "e" in Dwarf runes it will look like M. However, if I were to type Cloudyhead I wouldn't get Bundushathûr (the Dwarvish word for cloudyhead) spelled out in runes. Make sense now?

Bill asked me that same question. Very Happy No, I don't - I know a smattering of Elvish but not any Dwarf. I cheated and looked up a Dwarvish word on an online Tolkien dictionary (since my books were all at home). I can however read and write Dwarvish Moon Runes (found in the Hobbit) which are different than Cirth runes (found in LOTR). Still geeky, I know, but I find it keeps the casual person from knowing what I'm writing.

Having trouble recognising a script or alphabet? Omniglot is the largest compendium of writing systems that I've ever seen. Ogham, Klingon, Enochian, semaphore - it's all there. Highly recommended.
