Agreed, it's nice to have someone around who takes the time to explain themselves clearly...

I'm cross-posting this (my original post from a couple of days ago) from that site where everyone thinks the "apples" mean there's an iPod connection since it may mean something to people with actual verbal cognition skills:

Just saw the updated site (Sept 1) and was thinking about the rabbit moving around the tree, so I figured their might be a story that related to this. Googling (of course) "rabbit moving around tree story fruit green" brought me to this story called "The Forbidden Fru-Fru Fruits Epidemic", which has several equivalences to the images we've been seeing:
- rabbit(s)
- tree
- fruit
- significance of rabbit being near the tree
- significance of fruit being green

Of course, being a story, it has a moral lesson which may or may not relate, but I just thought I'd pass it along. There are other stories of rabbits and food and trees, but this one took the cake, so see if you can get any clues from it.

I'm sticking to my theory. you know why? Because it has something to do with the Origen site. How? Because the first hint was found in the Hex.

I thought magritte was just in there because that was the name of the font originally used for the origen text on the first flash. If the font was used/embedded in the file, it's name would probably appear in the file somewhere (hence, it's appearance in the hex editor). I don't necessarily think that it is a clue in that case.

Yes, here is confirmation that Magritte is the name of the font used in the flash from typography buffs:

They are trying to find the source of the font, though - it looks like it may be a custom job for this site.

Well, the fact that they even called it Magritte means something. And of course as the fruit is exactly the same. That is not a matter of coincidence.

And Carlo, the story can still contribute to the meaning, so don't shoot it down immediately. But in this case...I'm sorry, but personally I think it really doesn't look like it would. It would make some sense, yes, but the story is just unimportant, as in I don't know how MS would ever have even come across it. Maybe if the rabbit signs suddenly start falling over, then I would reconsider, but right now it doesn't make any sense that MS would have used the story at all.

Carlos' Theory does make sence... insignificantly so.
But is it at all possible we're looking too hard at this?

The fruit just appeared, they are green, IE not Ripe. the rabbit is moving towards the tree or the hole in front of the tree.

Could it perhaps be as simple as a rabbit hole (literally) and the ripening of the fruit indicating that time is progressing, and the rabbit is going to go down it? Or Perhaps the ripening of the fruit have some other meaning not yet disclosed or discovered.

Please I'm not attacking your theory Carlos, it is brilliant, I'm just exploring the possibility that there might be a simpler meaning. Keep in Mind, while ARGs can be complex, if this is indeed an ARG it wouldn't aim at being too complex for the general audience, in fact most advertisement campaigns wouldn't because that's just not how you maintain a grip on the audience.

First of all, the name's Carlo.

Second of all, the general audience have entertained themselves with enough 'simple' solutions, such as the apples referring to Apples Ipod, the Green rabbits meaning you are viewing them in nightvision, or pathetically making people think that your photoshopped images of sightings of "Wilson' and 'Anthony Hopkins' are real. I think a more sophisticated approach should be taken since everything so far is purely symbolic in my eyes.

Carlos, okay I am sorry you have busted my sekrit..

I am sorry eveyrbody my theory was not real Sad there is no hopkins or wilson in the image, even if you ENHANCE, the best you will get is a pile of slimey goo in the bunny, and a lovely shade of gray in the shadow.

Carlos the reason I lied is because I was jealous.. yes it is finally time I admit it.. but everybody was finding such amazing theories it was about time I pretend to find something.

I mean your Margarita theory alone was amzing, how am I supposed to top intelligent people like that? It's impossible! So I resorted to cheating and lying and thus became an evil person, lured by the powers of the dark side (and adobe photoshop).

Yet your message now has shown me the path to righteousness. Your mocking message is my wake up call! I will not photoshop again, for it is evil.

I am immediately getting all the big news sites to take down my discovery for it is a false wannabe post, and will never ever rise to match your Margarita theory.

Thank you for opening my eyes, Carlos.

Now excuse me while I go play with my telescope. er.. umm.. nevermind

I must say that I have become quite intrigued with the possibilities inherent in an ARG based on the oeuvre of Joseph Beuys.

It saddens me that in my heart of hearts, I do not believe Microsoft has the cajones to present such a spectacle to this particular audience. Or indeed, any audience. Think of it, though. Fat, felt, and Xboxes. Brilliant.

P.S. The "Hare Mirror" artist is Markus Raetz, not René Magritte.

*sigh* Yes, Photoshopping is eveil. Confused Way to put things out of context. If you'd like, you can sit in the corner and write up some more about your telescope and photoshopped images. Wink

And missphinx, we can't be sure about anything. this is nothing like OurColony, so I think the best thing to do is wait and see what the whole secret is (you know, if we will get a Telescope with our Xbox 360 or not Rolling Eyes ).
