Vacation time!
Category: me, 06:22 PM
Hey! Just want to let you all know that I'm off on vacation tonight! I'm going on a six-week train/hiking trip to the Tanraga mountain region with my friends Margot and Sanj and my boyfriend Brede . It's supposed to be incredibly beautiful there - I'm just so looking forward to it!
Just before I go though, I promised my dad I'd let you all know about this puzzle. Apparently the people at Mind Candy wrote it so it's not too difficult - just a bit of fun .
I won't even spoiler the answer to that one...

They're obviously trying to make people feel smart so they'll want to join the game. "Oh wow, that puzzle was easy! I bet I could win this game! I'll just go buy 20 packs of cards now!"

Wow! That was easy! Even I managed to solve that one!
I'm guessing we should see this as more of an OOG PR exercise that anything serious for those of us already in game. After all, the more the merrier...

So what was the answer? (lol, just kidding... )
I don't like how the only way you could win the prize was if you live in the UK...

Yeesh, as if it wasn't already easy enough they went and made it multi-choice. I'm guessing that most of us knew what the answer would be without even reading the puzzle. Still, as JamesDart says, better to ease people in gently than throw, ooooh, say, something like this at them. Incidentally, I ran half a pub-quiz last week and one of the rounds I did was riddles (including Sphinx, Forever Foe and the Puzzle email ones) - stuck the pxc.com address on the sheets just for good measure and everyone seemed to enjoy working them out so I think it's probably a pretty good way to get people hooked.
As for the problem of only being able to win in the UK, I get the same problem when I win stuff from coke bottles, etc. on holiday in the US - the knife cuts both ways.

I was at a quiz a while ago, the question "what is the study of flags known as" I instantly thought of card 170, Vexillogy. That was the one point that put us in 1st! Thank you PC

Yes, it's a new way of talking to people you fancy. Very cosmopolitan.

Hmmm, I've heard of "flirting with someone" and "chatting someone up", but not "flirting someone up"... very strange.
