Thanks. Because I'd rather hear it directly.

(also echoing Thunderclap to ask: what -is- Meteors, anyway? Have I played it?)

The Bruteshot headlong thingy...You stand on this spot on the bridge, and everyone points there bruteshots straight up with full ammo and then fires it all. No shields with smaller parties. Basically the goal is to get through all the BS nades to the overshield platform. No one ever wins, lots of people die, good times.

Never heard of meteors either. And it's not in the customs thread.

I also gotta say, about the drama...

I haven't been on for three weeks because of life in general, so I've sadly ( Rolling Eyes yeah right) missed any drama therein.

Tsuki? Getting ditched? BWAHAHAHAHA!!! Baka. Nobody would ditch Tsuki on purpose. I think it's safe to say we're pretty much all of one mind on that. If Tsuki has that impression, I can at least vouge for never hearing anyone say anything bad about her evar (fun time, on the other hand...). Furthermore, she's the only beekeeper aside from SP to get a fanclub.

manefesto time.

This one time, at bandcamp, I did really well with the sniper and went 45-0 or something. A fluke, but it felt like my birthday. Now, that was matchmaking, so it wasn't beekeepers getting hot molten slag in the eye, but I can understand how much fun sniper prostitution can be. It was, in every sense of the word, delicious.

More typically, I have been the "john" in this scenario. Now I can understand being on Zanzibar defense or Relic offense, and in those cases I have many times gotten sniped within three feet of spawning. This one time, I was on D in Zanzibar, and I kept spawning outside the closed gate, smack dab between the front entrance and the ramp. Every single time I went straight for the nearest entrance, and I never got more than five feet before either the seawall or the Froman sniper got me. It happened ten times in a row, and I ended up dying at least twice as many times as anyone else in that game. I am getting infuriated just thinking about it, and that was months ago.

This is not directed at any one person. Anyone with a sniper can pick off someone who spawns. You don't even have to be remotely good. It's time to realize that, just because you let a fella move seven feet, then kill him, you're still an assclown.

We used to talk quite a bit more about spawnkilling than we used to, and I can only assume that the difference is that we lost many of the people who really get mad about it. Last time I played, I was a decent sniper. I was no vash or twisted, or even a zorplex, mutant or dante, but I was better than average. But think about it...does a beekeeper ever get mad at me for spawnkilling? The reason this answer is no is because I always assume a demilitarized zone around a person's spawn. If that isn't possible because it's assult or something, I put down the sniper or give a person three seconds to hide first. Rarely, I even pulled my punches. And if I did well, I didn't gloat.

Sometimes it's nice to at least let the other team touch the flag. You don't have to make it obvious, you don't have to let them win, but games without a glimmer of hope aren't fun to either side. In matchmaking, sure...decimating the other guy because you've developed skill is quite a bit of fun. But even then, there is no question in my mind that 85% of the fun I have is when the blood is pumping and adrenaline is flowing because they were three inches from capturing, or bomb armed but didn't plant with seconds to spare. Aside from the ultra-rare 25-0, it is just never as much fun to seriously outmatch someone else as it is to have a good dogfight.

What makes team play fun for me is the team aspect. Teamwork, efficiency, co-operation...not really winning. Until the day that I can take my rating to the bank and get money for it, or have it impact my life OOG in any meaningful way, I will never care about my rank. And guess what, that goes for me caring about your rank too. So guess how much I like it when someone says, "I don't want to play that, I'll lose my rank!"

What makes group play fun is the group. Joking, interacting, being laid back, seeing something spectacular. So guess how much fun never even reaching midfield on coagulation feels. If the game stops being fun, I'll probably just turn it off or play with someone who's wanting the kind of game I want to play. I really don't want to resort to playing with non-beekeepers, and I wish I never had to.

Also, I realize that I find different things fun than some of you do, so I don't want to poo-pooh your good time by forcing the group to change. That isn't elitism. In fact, I feel it's actually the exact opposite: courtesy. To me, it's much nicer to just let the group go with the flow than to force them to do whatever I want. And if the room is chatty, I'm even less inclined to explain why I'm about to leave, since it would require me to interrupt just to deliver a message that I feel is rude of me to say in the first place. I can tolerate more than the average beekeeper before I'll quit, but if I do quit, I'm unlikely to explain why for fear of sounding elitist.

Incit (or anyone else), I hope if you see me just drop, you don't think I'm being rude. The above is my reasoning. Furthermore, if you see me drop and immediately join another group, don't think I'm out to ditch you. Again, I'm normally pretty quiet about my discontent (unless i'm getting spawn camped excessively or really playing poorly). Because I'm quiet about it, I am more likely to just switch games if I'm wanting a change. It's NOT about the people or personalities, it's about the general tone of the game. If I'm not having as much fun as I think I might in another game, I am unlikely to say, "Hey guys, I'm going to go play a game with these fellas over here because I'm not having fun with you for reason x."

Now, I'm not krystyn, so the room doesn't naturally follow me when I drop. I'm not speaking on her behalf, but I do know that she's had similar motivations in the past. And, I can remember numerous times in the past where she's dropped and people followed her unsolicited, including when she's on the phone.

Above all, don't be passive agressive. That's about as much fun as a donkey turd at the dinner table. If you have beef, squash it when you have it, with the person you have it with. If you have general angst, come out and discuss it. If you, like me, have opinions about everything and worry that people will stop liking you if you share them all the time, wait for golden opportunities like this one Smile

I've been trying to tone myself down in casual matches, I know.

There have been times when I am using the PP/BR Combo and I will let someone go after landing the Plasma Charge because they were completely defenseless.

it's not much, but sometimes people notice. Smile

MLG has moved the dates of the Conference Championships, including Chicago:

Due to the extreme increase in fuel costs, it was imperative that our shipping route stayed reasonable. Thus, we had to start with LA after Seattle. These events are 100% booked. I will be announcing venues later this week. Here are the dates:

Dont forget these are 3 day events. Day one will be the qualifier for uninvited teams/players.

LA- October 14,15 16

ATL- Nov 25, 26, 27
*Yes we know its Thanksgiving weekend, but this is the best we could do. Also, its a holiday for schools so it will free people up. AGP had 72 teams on a Thanksgiving weekend 2 years ago. I have complete confidence in our community to come through and make it a success.

Chicago- Dec 17, 18, 19

NYC- TBD in January

I have to be honest and say that the last few pages of this thread have mostly been utter nonsense.

If you people have something to say, I'd rather you just up and say it as opposed to playing would-be politicians. This isn't the lowest common denominator. Most of us can handle criticism, so either get on with the accusations or keep quiet and try to make things work. If you could do one of those two things, it'd be great, but stop the whispering and rumor milling and silly PC non-specificity. It's getting old.

I have to say that I haven't been on Live for a while, but after reading through the last several pages of this thread, I'm kinda scared to come back.

What happened to just playing?

Don't ask. We're still not quite sure, but it seems to have taken an unexpected vacation. Wink

Not blaming you.

I'm through with playing the mediator; Jinxy and krystyn are 100% right, speak your minds aloud people. Cognitive expression is a privilage, use it. :p
The Beekeepers and EvadeEvadeEvade will always be here for your gaming pleasure, and people within both clans will always bee keepers, and thus friends at a glance, family at heart.

/me starts to fly under his own power, and procceeds to spreads the <3 around the room.

Playing?
Always there, just sank a bit in drama. But we're working our way through it now, and we're moving along.
