The Widow Salk

Y'know, I've been thinking. We figured out that maze of Salk's but never let his widow know anything. Clearly we don't want to place her in danger, but shouldn't we tell her something?

Something like "The maze contained secret details of a story your husband was working upon. We're working on making sure his work is kept alive but we really can't tell you any more at this point. And by the way, where did you two meet?"

Thoughts?

I think it's a good idea - if anything, just so she knows that her husband hadn't gone bonkers when he put together the maze; he was actually working on an important case, and trying to protect his secret sources.

If we can get a dialogue going, then we could push on to the place they met, her favourite flower etc.

It was already done back in June:

NovacaineX asks if we have emailed her
cronogenesis replies, yes
the response from Slyvia's brother Adam

Yeah, but cronogenesis only tells her that we've got the text out of the maze. Unless I've missed it somehow, we've told her nothing about The Advisor, the story Salk was working on (or even that he was working on a story and not just going loopy, which is how it would look from the text in the maze), the hidden directories on salkfamily.com, the 3 in the maze, anything we know about the theft and the conspiracy, or any of the real leads we have as a result of the maze. At the very least, perhaps we should try pumping her for information (in a tactful way of course) and reassuring her that her husband hadn't gone mental.

Think about it.

You have a cult thats just murdered your husband for knowing too much. There gonna keep an eye on you in case you learn too much. I refrained for emailing her this for her own safety. We dont want both dead do we? As far as Viendenbourg is concerned, she dosent know anything incriminating and we should keep it like that. After all, V is VERY dangerous. 3 murders recently.

Again, thank you. I will not be able to keep in touch for some time
since I must attend to the funeral preparations and other affairs.

Given that at the end of the response that crono got, I suspect that we are not supposed to go down that route anyway.

Though the idea was never to put her in any danger, just pump her for information and tell her that we would do the investigating.

So, that means *we're* the ones in danger!

I've been umming and arring about contacting her again to see if we get a response as we still need two clues to get into the Salk logs.

I have stopped as Scarlett did mention that there was to be some kind of Sentinel memorial that the staff are going to. I was hoping that Scarlett or the Sentinel would mention something there.

Just like the Vincent thing. Either that or we get Scarlett to grill the widow as to their meeting place and favourite music.

I attempted to contact her a couple of weeks ago, and I asked how she was doing and whether she could recall their favorite song Razz Still the same old auto-response.

same here, since we know (from perplexcity.com) that people have already found out about the contents of the salk logs without us telling anyone, and also, have not been murdered (yet) we thought it was a good idea to try letting sylvia in on it gently. i sent her an email and also tried asking about the remaining questions we needed subtly, just got the same auto response back. think i mentioned it in the salk logs/passworded log files thread over in puzzles. still a bit iffy as to whether she should know about 'the advisor' or not.

rach =)

I'm sorry to intrude into your personal life at such a tyme as now. reading through the site i noticed that you and pietro "courted" for only 6 months. I was wondering what were your first impressions when you met him.. again,,, this is asking to rehash pretty much what i may imagine to be one of the many movies playing on repeat in your mind. You may have family for this as well and need not hear from strangers from earth. It's just that our collective of people sifting through your husbands files have been trying to figure out where you met exactally. we think it may help us with a particular puzzle that may or may not be the final answer. Hope i've brought you no injustice.

Thanks,
Talos D'Loristo

Did that about two weeks ago or so. I thought i wrote it rather well Sad

though i guess i should have explained atleast in hint the magnitude of the situation. . .

Just sent this one out about 5 minutes ago... since she hasn't been responding to anyone anyway it may already be too late,, but i thought i was within proper lines... opinions, hopes?

It's Talos the Earthling again.

I was slightly ill-informative my last writing. i appologize, yet we have some concerns. As our collective has worked on pulling your husbands logs out from the mazes we've learned so much about what's going on that we're really afraid to give you any straight answers in fear of your well being. But that being said i feel there are some things we should be able to say without going off key.
It seems your husband had a reputation for being a very good and honest journalist. Always digging to the bottom of a story, caring for the ones involved. so well known for this was he, it seems he was contacted by someone in hopes of reaching such an agreement. They, we believe, were one of the people responsible for the theft of the cube, for some reason they had second thoughts and wanted to get the information out to the public. But there was a great deal of fear. Some older power or group who claim the cube<?> Your husbands last line was:

LAST ONE:
You must find her before it's too late. You must find out what she knows.
Sylvia, I love you, I love you.
http://salkfamily.com/itistimeformetogo/

as for Finding "Her" we're working on it... but do to the severity of the situation we really feel the less you know, the safer you'll be... when we get exact detail we will inform you, being your a better contact within perplexity than we can effect on our own, collectively or apart.

Subject: Re: Re: Re: OK, I'm convinced
I would have thought that was obvious. Last year, I was hired to steal the Cube. As was Mr Holyoke, I believe. And he is now dead. That is what I am afraid of.

now, i know, as a great puzzling culture as you seem to be you may be able or have already been through and found all this information out on your own, but the flaw we are faced with is that you have one bit of information that we do not. To further our ability to track his killer *as we believe has happened* we do need to know the location of "Where S and I met" .. if you have already found this pass-worded area you may already be in greater danger than we could imagine, being we don't know what's in that file other than speculation that it contains information to some ancient cult that has never left... Something your husband referred to as "Something to scare children to bed with"...WE assume that the question is in reference to where you and Pietro met, We've gone through ever park we've ever heard of and come back with nothing. Can you see our dilemma? I feel your pain, yet i don't feel justified in sending you to your death. I will fill you with more information if you require it. but i'd rather not have to without consent.

Please consider my request,
Talos D'Loristo.
