No, however if they were put in front of you, you decided to drink them and then wonder whose they may have been. Laughing

Oops, hehe. I went around my hometown and school with a lot of the leftover stickers. I also gave one of our freebie puzzle cards to one of the teachers. Just wasn't the same without 398356 units of alcohol in me Razz

*cough* Of course, I think kraed forgot to mention that he's 18 and you are allowed to drink booze in this country at that age and so it's perfectly plausible that he could go back to school as a sixth former yet still be legally allowed to drink and no one playing PXC or on UF or anything would even for a second consider breaking the law and allow a minor to become intoxicated because that would be all and wrong and stuff, right?

Plus I wasn't intoxicated, and TECHNICALLY an 18 year old could very well still be in the 6th form. =P

6th form

I thought there were only three (technically four) forms: solid, liquid, and gas (plus plasma, if you want to get technical.)

Okay, this is obviously a Brit thing that is over my head.

6th form (L-VI and U-VI) is the same as grades 12 and 13 in the US/Canada

Yeah, that's what I meant. Why, what did you think I was talking about?

I love the META board

May it be stated that Unfiction, Mind Candy, Me, And Everyone Else as a whole does not condone under-age drinking?

That said, kraed pwned me. All of us, in fact. Good grief!

It was indeed all a good laugh:

  • meeting Reason and Oliver right at the beginning and playing "Spot The Perplexians" as people wandered through the front door looking slightly confused
  • the MC chat and subsequent quiz, with the subsequent face-off against the almighty Chippy (and yes, I lost)
  • (someone whose name I never found out)'s crazy collection of video gadgetry (a spy camera, no less!)
  • Discussing 'Elucidate' and more with the lovely Adam MC, who has clearly honed the art of saying things that sound useful while still being utterly cryptic, and totally enjoys it
  • a conspiracy of circumstances that mean The Sherlock Holmes is missing two half-pint glasses (sorry!)
  • "OMGWTFBBQ, this pub has, like, two... parts!"
  • Snowball's relentless Campaign For Proper Seats
  • Our total street-teaming of the last pub we went to, where PXC cards were distributed far and wide, not least to necking couples, stickers were stuck, and high jinks ensued. "No, Jey, I really don't want another shot." "Guyyyyy! Yes you do!" And my lightweight-shot-refusing alliance with Chris quickly crumbled.
Overall, it was great to meet everyone, and as Chris said, special props go out to the dangerously fun post-fest crew - also nice to meet the MC folks. No photos from me I afraid, although I have attached a couple of images at the end of this rather lengthy message...

I notice no-one has really covered some of the "officially mentioned" stuff. Tittle-tattle nonwithstanding, and bearing in mind much of the following is highly speculative even on their part:
  • The 'type in your answers' leaderboard system will be online soon, and they're gunning for a date in early October (OK, the third, since you ask.)
  • The next wave of cards will be another 66. They won't be mixed in with the current set - instead, they'll be in seperate packs, while the first wave will continue to be available. In the third wave, all the cards will be mixed up together. (On my part, this makes me suspect that the third wave will be the "final push", with all remaining cards being available.)
  • There was some discussion of future expansion of the PXC brand, although please remember that these ideas could range from the "concrete" to the "we think it might be cool in a few years time" level of development - a "puzzle exhibition" featuring work from MC, players, kids, celebs, and so on, with a possible book based on it; a crazy TV/ARG crossover; and of course we've already heard rumours of potential games/movies.
  • MC said that various people (including players) had been sending them puzzles, and that this was a cool thing to do.
  • We also got sneak peeks at a couple of new cards - another logical/piratical one, and a fantastically meta-one on ARG trivia.
  • People who went are getting Cubefest t-shirts with "a cool logo" while those that won the quiz are getting "a mystery prize"
  • Another of our venerable moderators (as opposed to slightly-disdained moderators like me) has snuck behind the curtain: Wishi-San!
I think that about covers it! Hopefully we'll be able to put up a video of the talk in a week or so... technical thingies currently prevent such things from happening. Thanks for a great time everyone!
