Phillip Gairden = Stone Jeffreys?

Copied from the ZLFC forum:

Gumpraider over at MFN just noticed that Stone Jeffreys, the Metacortex Network Security Head... and Phillip Gairden... look suspiciously alike.

Yes, they do look pretty similar. Could one name be a pseudonym - perhaps the Gairden name, since it would be weird for a Network Security guy to be editing a journal on the paranormal at the same time?

Phillip

I think I remember Phillip's bio saying he is a university professor. He is also the journal's editor, as we know. I highly doubt he's got another career and a full-time job in network security. However, I also see the striking resemblance between him and Stone.

Here's my take on it:

Many of the photos of the people in this game appear to be familiar. I believe they are stock photo images. Some digging into royalty-free photos of people would probably uncover them. I think using images of the same person for two different characters was just an oversight by the designers.

definitely same guy, look at the nose. Diandra has a really good idea but as someone told me yesterday in the IRC chat, "There are no coincedences, only clues."

I've used that line myself, but IMHO...

This is not a coincidence, or clue...I believe it's simply a mistake.

I've noticed some others as well (for example the word "luxury" spelled as "luxery".) Minor little things that really make no difference, but lead me to believe the game may perhaps be a grass roots effort as opposed to a professionally produced game.

Don't get me wrong, I'm really enjoying it and give it all the props it's due! I just think that certain discrepancies would have been corrected if it were professionally created. So I tend to believe the similarities in Phillip and Stone's photos is nothing more than an oversight.

However, I could be wrong. Laughing

Looking at it a bit more... my suspicion is that Gairden=Jeffreys=The Merovingian. smith_fan at The Matrix Reloaded board suggested this, and a this picture from the IMDB of Lambert Wilson really does look like these two - the jawline, a lock of hair, the hair pattern in the beard, the eyes.... I wonder if this isn't another clue for us.

But yes, you're right, Diandra - many of these strike me, too, as stock photos. Especially Steve and Beth, on the Metacortechs page. Steve's looks like an eyeglass ad.
