y2k,

Did you find any more?
Who would have thought Hermes had so many epithets? None of the following work:

Acaetus
Atlantiades
Hermanubis
Caducifer
Esus
Argeiophontes
Egemonios
Agetor
Enodios
Nomios
Epimelios
Agoraeus
Criophorus
Cyllenius
Epimelius
Nomacriates
Polygius
Promachus

Most of the ones that do work are different names for Hermes, and then you have the few that are "equivalents" of Hermes in different cultures. Then there's Huginn, which can be considered a "messenger". Puck is similar.....

I have looked for many, many different names for all the ones I listed above to no avail. I was particularily focussing on Norse (as there is only the one). I found a few (i.e. Lug, Lugh) but none that work.

Well I finally got one more.....but sent Mr.Vulture an email because there are literally hundreds of (coupled with culture equivalents) Hermetic epithets that just don't work. Maybe he's got a spelling error?

There are many different ways these are spelled.

I have been working at this every day to find that last name...to no avail. And we cannot try to enter his hotmail account because of too many attempts. And there has been no updates to his journal.

Frustrating looking for that final name...like a little gold nugget it is. Rolling Eyes

Will Ewan never again update his LJ?
Will his Hotmail log-in probs with 1800IFEELOK be rectified?
Will we ever find the final name by which he is known?

The two that Cat missed were: Cylleneius, Hesus

The message that then resulted was:

Quote:
He is so named.
The ceremony must be conducted next Friday. Now you have the date; as for the time, well, that was in my email to the little bird.

The six digits from calling 1-800-I-FEEL-OK, when I call it, are as follows: 44-2-3-0

I begin to wonder if the digits differ by region... Though I've called from three different states over the past six or seven years and it's always the same.

The email which Muninn had sent pompous_psycho@ was as follows:

Quote:
no doubt you are no less confused now than before. i told you that vendetta would no stand. you have eluded for far too long. i have no choice but to try to mend things through this medium in realtime. all bound for MuMu Land. i will call you there. you know what time is lOVE. you must swear an oath, as it was once put, to reach me. and if that is beyond you, ask a .co for a .toss -- if he is amused, he just might favour you.

The "MuMu Land" bit, with the KLF references, should be obvious. "you must swear an oath" means you must curse. On Mu, uttering a curse word will automatically cause you to be ".toss"-ed into an inaccessible room called "the Underworld" from which there is no escape. In this room the denouement played out. For those who didn't figure out they need to curse, I added a second clue, that they could ask a .council member "for a .toss" -- the command ".toss" can only be used by .council members and will send the user to the Underworld.

The time is also encoded in the email. Should be simple to see so I won't bother explaining.

Thank you to all who played. I know some of my comments in puppetsmaster were catty and annoyed, but I really did think the world of you all.

These were the text files I started with. Things evolved quite a bit after "plot.txt", while "order.txt" I updated as I went. If any of you care to peek behind the curtain a little more.
order.txt

*sigh*
Missed out on all that coolness by two names.

Still, it was fun while it lasted. This was the first ARG since Lockjaw that awakened that old excitement in me. Honest!

One small detail nags however: Ewen's "Mother". Whence did she spring from, and to where did she egress? Why was a "Missing" poster needed? (Just advertising? If so, clever way to do it!)

Ah well. our failing to catch that final train aside, I'm eternally thankful to you for creating this game. I know we will have this dance (of PM and player) again. Who knows, maybe next time, I'll be leading? Either way, I look forward to it intensely.

Again, thank you.
