Opal. That is what it has to be... but a necklace pendant made of one? Opal is very hard to find, and it is generally very small in size... that's some major bling right there. I'll see if I can find anything on something like it.

Opal's not hard to find at all, walk through any major Australian centre and jewellery shops are full of it - infact walk through town here in Auckland and jewellery stores are full of it. It's only rare in the states because it's found in Australia.

And it's expensive. but I myself have an opal pendant necklace, it's the staple souvenirish jewellery gift that Fathers and Husbands buy their Daughters / Wives when they go away for business Smile

Oh, I am well aware of THAT, I am an Aussie myself. But 95% of opals are "common" opals, meaning they are milky and don't reflect so much color, while 5% are like the black opals I showed above. Maybe this guy is an Aussie? Razz

Interesting fact... black opals can be more expensive than diamonds per carat. Why am I not suprised?

If I remember correctly, opals are suppose to be bad luck for the wearer if it isn't your birthstone.

Yeah, because they are as brittle as glass.

Never posted before, new to the ideas of ARG's... I got the same e-mail that quote came from. Pans of Balance are scales correct?

I was looking at today's date in history... and on wikipedia I found this:

Quote:
In ancient Greece, the sixth day of the Eleusinian Mysteries, when the procession to Eleusis began at the Kerameikos in Athens.

Unless it is just some kind of start date...

I'm still inclined to think thet the numbers are for a letter count. But applying the count to the texts we have (from icarus, believe and lie) does not work. Or maybe I can count, as I said before. So, 2 possibilities:
1) somebody else could try again the lettercount on these 3 texts and see if I'm really such a numeric idiot, or
2) maybe there is some other text we should try? I have no idea of what text, frankly.

I tried the letter count thing too. Nothing showing. The only thing I got was something that looked like it could be a tinyurl, but turned out to be nothing. I'm still inclined to agree with you though. I've tried many other things. Include Bible verses and all manner of IP tweakings. I thought for a bit that mabye it was some kind of reference to a magazine/newsletter. (I.E. the first number is the volume, second the issue, then the year, then the page) But it doesn't add up.

Edit: Also, just to note it down, in the rose.htm source is a link to believe.htm

*sighs*

Edit:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
From y3o0.htm:
"But... how do we really know if it is over this time? What if we failed? What if what we're doing is wrong, and we're letting our guard down?"
"Well, that's the trick to this business, isn't it? And if we had that, we'd be alot better than we are."
"Don't you have faith in the team anymore?"
"To be honest, we've been out of it for so long, I don't think we can do what we use to."

That would be "help" with a simple keyboard shift.

That keyboard shift was associated with Project Gateway if I remember correctly. I didn't play the game though, so I dunno.

Maybe a connection? Doubtful.

Edit: Okay, this is humorous, to me at least. I just went back and checked my letter count. I was confused, you see, because I got what was found with the beale cipher from the simple number count, but disregarded it. Well, I went back and counted, and it seems I miscounted by one. If you take the visible letters from believe.htm and count to 6, 58, 104, and 117, like I did, then you'll get the same. *chuckles*
