[QUESTION] Trout free Question zone here - For all players:)

The most profitable thing I have done in the poker rooms is to chat with players who are new to this game and new to ARGS.

I thought I would start a thread where people can ask any question they want. I have found these sections helpful in the past. My prediction, if ilovebees is any indication, is that we will be inundated by new players within the next 36-72 hours. [Write it down.]

If you are new and wonder where to start, you can go to the Top Players page and start with thedealer card. Click on the links you find to the side. And then either follow your own trail or click on all the other cards that have been found. The wiki guide has all the information as well, but it is really fun and important to look at the resources yourself.

Ask any question here. Don't be afraid to post. We are really nice and want to help. Honest. Smile

Edit - Changed topic, moved to quick ref, and stickied for all future questions - Ehsan

Okay I guess I'll start off with a question that I've been sort of embarrassed to ask, especially since it doesn't pertain to the gameplay. Embarassed I've noticed that the favicon for LCP shows up as a little ".net" icon. Honestly, I don't get it and it keeps bothering me everytime I have to look at it . I've been to lastcallpoker.net just to look and of course it just redirects to lcp.com.

So my question is - is that favicon just a generic thing, maybe even generic to my browser, or does anyone know of a good reason why it's like that?

I may be wrong, and I'm sure people will correct me if I am, but I believe that favicon is the .net for the Microsoft framework that, I guess, the site runs off of. So I don't think that's anything really important. Maybe someone else has a better explanation for it Smile

I knew it looked familiar. I kept thinking about the Microsoft passport feature though, not about framework. It makes a lot of sense, thank you.

You are correct. It looks like most of the site was written in ASP.net with lots of pretty flash, javascript, and other goodies on top. But that is all that means Smile.

Confirmed. As per the the bottom of the Privacy Policy page on LCP:

Enforcement of this Privacy Statement
If you have questions regarding this statement, you should first contact MSN Privacy by clicking here.

Mind you, the last word doesn't link to anything, but it's the thought that counts.

Now, as to another question:
We've all seen the LCP page. It has "andadaughter" on the tombstone, and the the "deaddeaddeadIFYOUCANREADTHISI'MALREADYDEAD" flashy bits.

I blinked at the right/wrong time and, using my screen recorder, found that there is a flash of the word "DON'T" on the poker hand, and then the poker chip in friendly red letters.

The referrence to Lucy I get. I even understand the message from beyond the grave bit. But "Don't"?

I don't get it. Thoughts?

-R

Huh. I hadn't noticed that until you pointed it out.

Maybe that' "don't" goes with "make a killing" ? Maybe a bit of a pun? "make a killing at poker" but "don't make a killing of someone"?

Damn good question. Hmm.

Please excuse me up front on this, but hey...you said "trout free".

For starters, I'm prety jazzed about this one. I've always gotten to a point with the games that have caught my attention and been turned off by the genre with all the vigenere codes, deciphering source code &c, but this one seems to be starting with good old fashioned detective work.

That being said, I'm curious to those who have found cards: Did you get to a certain point and then start just spamming guesses? As the first and easiest example, starting with Clay...was it "she called him a padre..so I'll try ClaySizemore, PastorSizemore, PadreClay, Padre, PastorClay, Pastor, ReverendClay...." till you got to "preacher"?

Hi, Kermie

I wasn't sure how to answer your question, because I didn't know myself. So, I did a search on the word "preacher", and limited it to "Last Call Poker forum". As you can see, a lot of people already asked this question. It took me only about a minute from there to find this post, which explains that "preacher" was found from the dealer's profile. I then went to thedealer's profile, and read this: "You'll look around the table, and you'll see the same eight players: The Banker and the Sheriff, the Killer and the Kid. The Gambler, the Preacher, the Half-breed and the Drunk." My guess is that cyberinsekt just kept trying all the names mentioned here, until he got the preacher.

It actually took me more minutes to type this post than to find the answer. Search is good Smile

Oh, and - welcome here!

"Preacher" had already been found by the time I showed up, but I'd guess that it came from these two clues:

(1) "Tips for the living and the dead":

thedealer wrote:

(2) The message on Dana's Lucy's voice mail:

thedealer wrote:
Good. You met the Gambler. You know something about the Preacher, too.

The preacher may have also been found by the email link found in one of the texts on Lucy's page (You were always bad luck...). That email, if I remember correctly, was for claysizemoreSPLATgmail.com (Hover over the email link and check your status bar of your browser). And then the spamming commenced, I'm assuming.

The one I found (robertbrown) I discovered from clues on Lucy's page. In the video we see this Robert fellow get shot. Not knowing his last name, but figuring from somewhere... (Lucy's text again?) that the two were related, I guessed his last name might be Brown. Typed in RobertBrown into the search field and trala, I guessed right.

I haven't done it since though Wink

EDIT - added the details - SG

Ok, i know its probably somewhere in the glossaries, but what is a wiki, and how do i get to it?
Also, to justify this posts existance in this forum, has anybody worked out what the suits that you get in your profile mean yet? (pretty sure spades=card finder, clubs=social club, but not sure on diamond (which appeared in mine a couple days back). anyone got hearts?)
And, for those of us that dont live in america, and arent willing to pay for calls to there, are there any full transcrips of the voicemails that i keep hearing about? (especially lucy's)

the wiki is here: http://deaddrop.us/lastcall/index.php/Main_Page but deaddrop seems to be down today

a wiki is an encyclopedia that anyone can edit; check out The wikiPedia to get the idea

here's the deal with the suites so far:
diamond: you recently looked at Lucy's profile
club: you recently viewed The Dealer's profile
spade: you unlocked a character
spade with a number in it: you unlocked n characters
heart: undiscovered

wiki

Thanks for the post - I edited to include a link to the guide.

I don't know of any transcripts to the phone calls - that is a good point and we should make the transcriptions.
