The one thing that is making me wonder about the use of real cemeteries is that here in SF we've only two, the one at the Mission Dolores Church and the other is the national cemetery at the Presidio. Given the historical nature of Mission Dolores and the fact that the cemetery at the Presidio is actually under the control of the national park service, I find it hard to believe that either would allow something like this to happen.

Of course, they could do it in Colma, and it would be fitting to do so in the land of the dead, but Colma is distinctly not SF. I suppose they could be doing that "San Francisco means the entire freaking peninsula right?" thing, but given that I'm lazy and would hate to have to BART out there should I decide to go I hope they aren't doing this in a real cemetery. Or I'm wrong. Which is highly possible.

Then again there's nothing like sitting in a bar knowing that dead people far outnumber the live folk:)

Oh - and, uh, hi.

Seriously, though. I'm tempted to pull off a run for the San Francisco live event.

Any takers?

I would be interested. Time-wise for me, it would have to be on a weekend. Any suggestions as to where you would practice in the Bay Area?

I'm down for a trial run too. Or am I just bluffing?! Cue the thunder. Very Happy

I think that's more likely. I've learned that most events that claims to be in "San Francisco," really end up outside of San Francisco.

Howdy, neighbor. And to all the other people in the general vicinity of San Francisco who are wondering just how and where this is going down. I would bet it's "general vicinity" and not SF proper, but we'll see. Until then, http://www.geocities.com/araxnoullis/Bay_Area/Bay_Area.htm

I was rambling on about who/what/how/food/dead/picnic/driving, but then decided it can wait for a separate San Francisco event planning thread.

TBD - Games

Quote:

Graveyard Games are currently scheduled for cemeteries in San Francisco, Washington D.C., New York, Atlanta, Los Angeles and others to be announced.

Well, according to the press release, it looks like one of the To Be Decided Games is going to be in Washington, DC, so I may get a chance to play after all -- I hope it's the Haloween Weekend Game.

All right, Merry Wanderers, we need to find some way to make SURE that one remaining TBD date is in Chicago, yes? Twisted Evil

Would making an extensive list of Chicago cemeteries help? Twisted Evil

Chicago would be nice. It'd be only 5 hours drive, as opposed to any of the others.

You know, Louisville, KY has some GORGEOUS cemeteries. Duck ponds! Wide stretches of field!

Okay. I'm going to put some faith in the PMs and believe that this thing's actually going to happen in SF, not Berkeley, not Colma, and certainly not in San Ramon, where I hang my hat.

Considering what we're dealing with here, and the fact that groundskeepers REEEEEAALLLY don't like people yelling anything in their cemetaries, much less "Last Call" as per the rules, I don't see more than one game being played, if any at all.

That said, I'm going to go into a holding pattern until we can get a better idea of what's happening, and exactly where. As for practice, I'll suggest the cemetery off of Grand Ave. in Oakland.

Thoughts, Suggestions, or Seed for .sig files, anyone?

I created a "Crib Card" of the rules for Tombstone Hold'em to give out to people when we play. They are sized to fit Avery 28877 or 8371 2"x3.5" business cards

Here is the front.
Here is the back.

They're not the full rules. Just the very basics.

FYI, the last two sites for Tombstone Hold'em are up.

DC and Kansas City? Sigh, Boston to NYC is non-trivial...
