Kansas City??? That's farther away than most anything else!

Closest of that whole lot is Atlanta. Darn.

Yeah it's a bit annoying. What about Chicago or Dallas? KC is centralized, seriously, it's at least ten hours from here and I'm sure it's just the same comging from the Midwest.

1st off, there's nothing saying these are the ONLY dates for live events.

2ndly, there's nothing saying that something cooler than tombstone hold'em will NOT come to Chicago, or anywhere else...

3rdly, Phaedra is a poopyhead, who eats poop and smells like poop. and we love her for it.

*sigh*

1) Ew. Even for you. Razz
2) Why do I put up with you?
3) Don't try to make me feel better. I'm busy wallowing in highly-dramatic yet nobly-martyred self-pity. Three people here at work have already brought me chocolate. Don't cramp my style. Wink

Yes, perhaps there will be other live events. We can hope. Or we could just go and post armed guards around all the graveyards in Kansas City so they have to relocate. *whistles innocently*

Probably waiting to see where there are large groups of players (and access to a cemetery that has tombstones) before setting up other live events.

Austin, San Antonio, Houston, even Dallas... *sigh* Kansas City is a 15 hour drive from me!

Since this is a meta thread, I'm going to come out and say this...

IF this is a 42 game then they likely already have a list of cemetaries they want to/can play at. Since, at ARGfest, Jane said her HUSBAND was very tired and that the last time he had been that tired was when he was traveling around scouting payphones for ILB... And that we could take that any way we wanted.

That doesn't mean I think Chicago is out of the running entirely; but I think there are more factors at work here then just the PM's whims. Smile

... Can I "flounce" off now too? Or must one be angry to flounce? Very Happy

No. It's because they hate me. There is no other conceivable answer. Smile

(Actually, even if the October 29th event had been in Chicago, I would have been unable to go, because at that time, I will be in San Francisco. Oh, cruel fate. *presses hand to forehead and collapses upon fainting couch*)

/me switches to Serious Voice.

I am sure the PMs had very good reasons for the locations they chose.

One needn't be angry. One may also be pouting. (C'mon, you know when to flounce! You're a girl!)

/me rolls eyes.

There's way too many good cities in the U.S. for this kinda behavior, don't you think?

There are tons of good cities in the U.S. But there are also demographics to consider.

Chicago's what, the third largest city in the U.S.? And I would point out that the region around Chicago has, at least in their last game (and, as far as I can tell, in AotH, as well), provided them with one of their largest and most active player groups.

In all seriousness, no, I really don't understand why they wouldn't want to hold a live event there. I'm sure they have good reasons -- I mean, obviously I don't know the logistics behind this -- don't get me wrong, but it seems like it should be the third choice after NYC and either LA or SF. Or, considering where they're based, fourth after NYC, LA and SF.

I mean, the only city not on the east or west coast that was chosen was Kansas city, which seems pretty inaccessible to the vast majority of visible players. It just doesn't make sense to me. Granted, it's not like all the non-coasties could make it to Chicago, either, but it seems to me a lot more could get there than could get to Kansas City.

But again, I will acknowledge that the PMs know many things we don't.

Maybe it has something to do with poker? Is there a major tourney in KC?

I think I'll not only boycott the game because they haven't set an event within 10 miles of my comfortable home, but write multiple thousand word entries on why it's a bad decision on their much more experienced and informed parts.

1) Please note the frequent admissions that they know more than I do.

2) I never suggested anyone should hold an event in Milwaukee. I'm willing to travel within a fairly large region.

3) I'm sorry, I wasn't aware that I didn't have a right to be disappointed. I tried to keep it light and over-the-top melodramatic, rather than genuinely whiny, but if you want to get snarky, we should probably take this up privately.

Oh good lord. Just chill out peeps. Constructive criticism is fine, but obnoxious whining is just... sad.

You know, some people never got to answer payphones, some didn't get a chance to be at a live Heist activity, some won't be going to the mall this Saturday for Project Gateway.

That's Just. How. It. Is.

There are limited numbers of PMs and PM resources compared to the oodles of players that these games attract. That the PMs do ANYTHING live besides calling and emailing us, in my opinion, is over and beyond what they really need to do. They make these games (yes, for the people that hire them) but because WE play them and enjoy them. Asking for more and more live events means that what the PMs are able to give us within their budget becomes more and more limited. Be grateful that they are doing live events at all, and be happy for your fellow players that will be able to enjoy them. Whining and complaining spoils the experience for us all, PMs and players alike.
