The song is The Beatles' Penny Lane: "The little children laugh at the banker behind his back, and the banker never wears a mac."

And lo! Who's that in silhouette in the background?

Man, that Caine is so awesome. Wink

Good going! The missing artist is "Kosheen", for all you completists.

So, how did The Beatles get their name?

The card begs the question, "How did 'The Beatles' get their name?
A quick Google and this site explains that in early 1960, the band's favourite music was by Buddy Holly and the Crickets. Beetles came from a play on that, then Beatles to include 'beat'; which is how they described their music.
For a long time though, people believed John Lennon named the band from a vision in a dream of 'A Man on a Flaming Pie'.

Kosheen really threw me off, because that's not how it's spelled, just pronounced. For anyone wondering, the words are Shin (New) and Ko (Old). So I was like...Shinko? <Blinks> But yeah, thanks for enlightening me on that bit.

This was one of my most fun cards to solve (I didn't look at this forum, just used a bit of Googling help).

And yeah, the silhoutte is a bit of a 'doh!' at the end... Smile

Howdy

Yeah, so I'm new to the game and these forums, but I'm having a blast and getting all my friends addicted at once. So far, this is definitely one of my favorite cards--good clues all around, except that nearly impossible Japanese one. I ended up having to skip those two characters, but that's not terrible.

For those that are working on this card, I'd just like to list some of the better resources for this card that helped me out quite a bit.

http://www.allmusic.com
http://www.letssingit.com (not as useful as it used to be)
The wiki, imdb, and google of course, specifically google "language tools" and then cross reference with allmusic

This card kinda strikes home in some of the most bizarre ways I've ever encountered...
Spoiler (Rollover to View):

I had just watched "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure" that mentions the Iron Maiden
While working this puzzle, winamp played numerous tracks by Depeche Mode, REO Speedwagon, and Duran Duran but somehow avoided the Franz Ferdinand
My copy of Camus' The Stranger (that also listed other Camus books such as "The Fall") was sitting next to me on my living room table, near my Voltaire's Candide

There are way too many coincidences going on here for me to NOT think something is going on Confused
But that Foo Fighters trivia is awesome, I had no idea that's where the term came from!
