[WILD SPEC] Random ideas Here is just a place to put random theories about stuff.
For Example do you think that this has anything to do with reality TV? Survivor is mentioned and we have cards like Clay Ruben and William. These are the names of 3 of the stars of American Idol.

Re: [WILD SPEC] Random ideas Okay, my WILD SPEC:
Does anyone think there might be a puzzle or some other significance in the names of the poker tables?

Most of them seem to be poker terms (delta queen, suicide king, four and dime) or things somehow related to poker (speakeasy). Alot of gun references too (arms dealer, tommy gun) unless those are poker terms I am just not getting.

So, any word yet on how to get the Mark of the Joker? I know people, or at least one person, has it.

Thank you. (I am told that this is the proper way to respond to a compliment. As opposed to, say, arguing about it, which is what I usually do. )

Some seem to be the names of bots. I've just got off a table (Tommy Gun, as it happens)...& caught the tail end of a conversation with Mitch (whom everyone at the table presumed was a bot - the conversation is a different topic...one which I'm hoping someone else will relate because I really only caught the end).
He referred to Tommy Gun, who turns out to be a card as well...but looks like another bot?

All bot names start with LCP_ and the ones I've seen end in the name of a city, and they don't have cards. Mitch and tommygun are just normal people who signed up. I didn't play with them but their profiles are just standard player profiles.
I'd be very wary of people faking things and just seeking attention. We always get them in ARGs, sometimes they even create fake websites.

I think that tommygun is not a "card" per se, but just another player like us. (Or like, say, thegambler.) His profile doesn't have the "card" format -- e.g. avatar on the left instead of the right -- and no one is given credit for having "unlocked" him on Card Hunters .

The Art of the Bluff There are aspects of Poker that we haven't really looked at:
Bluff, Tells, Ringer (Ok I don't think that is the correct term for that, but I mean someone who shows up in town acting like they don't know a thing about the game loses a few early hands then proceeds to clean out everyone on the table).
We have some of the "tells" characters showing up at tables and talking.
But have we seen bluffs?

I'm pretty sure that's a hustler.

I wouldn't be suprised if one or more of the characters that showed up has stretched the truth one way or another. I think thedealer has been quoted on saying that he has an ulterior motive (other than helping Lucy), but I'm not sure.
As long as we're posting theories here, has anyone but me wondered about the strange pattern of the live events? They go from San Francisco all the way across the country to Washington D.C., then back halfway to Kansas City, and zigzag a few more times before ending up back in California. I tried tracing the pattern on a map, but I don't see any real shapes or anything there. Any ideas?

I think it would be great if one of the bots were incorporated in the story or came on and started chatting. I think everyone's jaw would drop

Actually, one (practice) table that always jumped out at me was Nuremberg, because of the trial which leads to another WWII reference. And Drawing Dead... Tombstone Hold'Em? I have no idea about poker terminology but if those are coincidences, they're just strange.

a quick google search for nuremberg hanging wwII gives a few pages, and a quick skim read shows that about 8 of those tried in nuremberg were hung. Not sure exactly how this fits in, could be something to do with the hanging where the dealer met Maurice (the gambler).
I for one am hoping this doesnt end up as a hunt for a nazi relic.
