I don't know what happened during "I love Bees" because this is my first real ARG, but if lines start to be drawn separating who "deserves" to play at that site and who "deserves" the clues, then I, like any other nOOb, will be gone. Why stick around if you're muscled out of the game? (I say this with my neck on the platter) Because there seems to be a developing thought that only the people here deserve to get the clues. It kinda takes the fun out of it for the rest of us.

It's a game...just enjoy the thrill of a flush from the river and a mystery to be solved.

I know the regulars will be offended by what I've said, but I didn't feel very welcome here anyway - so it probably doesn't matter.

*ahem*

I don't know whether I qualify as a "regular," but I'm not offended and I don't think anyone else ought to be offended. I am a little disturbed that you, or anyone, has perceived this discussion as attempting to deprive other people of clues, especially on the theory that we "deserve" them more than others. I don't feel that way, and I didn't interpret anything in this thread to mean that anyone else felt that way.

Some people are concerned that clues will be given out in the course of the Leader Board Tournament, and feel that those people who are participating in the ARG -- whether on this board or elsewhere -- ought to make an effort to qualify for the tournament so as not to miss the clues. This is not to exclude others from participating in either the tournament or the ARG. Some folks are just worried that, if the only people in the tournament are poker players who have no interest in the ARG aspect of the LCP site, then the ARG players will miss out. (Personally, I'm not one of them -- at least, not at the moment -- but that's not my point.)

Under no circumstances should any of that be interpreted to mean that we believe there is even one single solitary person using any aspect of the LCP site who doesn't "deserve" to participate in the ARG. Heck, I'd be happier if every last one of them got sucked into the story, although I don't expect it and I won't be disappointed when "serious" poker players choose to ignore thedealer and everything else. Still, I certainly have no desire to shut out anyone who wants to participate, and I don't think anyone else does either.

[/soapbox]

I am sorry that you haven't felt welcome, for whatever reason. I've always thought we were a pretty friendly and tolerant group.

on that note of the post above we are not looking to deny others from a poker tournament as stated. In the past there haven been many different types of puzzles and we looked at each one and found a way to get things going with it. This includes live phone conversations, emails, etc.

I am really curious that there are people that can persuade poker people. Hey if so be it good luck. I have tried and i feel i can try no longer. i leave up to those with more persuaive powers at this time.

Those that can convince, go out and do it.

I'm only annoyed since i know this isn't a poker site and has more than poker to care about.

I don't think we need to be annoyed! Very Happy

Kittens! Bunnies! Rainbows! Look, a butterfly!

I'd second everything Shad0 said --yes, I know that's a shocker Wink -- those of us that had expressed concern were certainly not trying to imply that some people "deserve" the info when others don't.

Our concern was simply making sure that the info was public, since we worried that the players who had seemed uninterested in the ARG aspect of the game and were the majority on the board might not ask Lucky (or whatever character they're going to play with) any questions, and might not share what he said.

But again, this has all already been said.

No one here is trying to make judgments on who "deserves" to get the information or play in the tournament. I think we all just want to make sure that whatever information is given out at that tournament is accessible to all. Okay? We love everyone. Everyone is pretty. Everyone is welcome. All is good.

But again, I don't think we have any cause for concern at this point, and I think we've pretty much discussed all the hypotheticals now. In the unlikely event that the people we've already talked to fall off the board and we can't manage to make friends with anyone who remains on it and there is enough broad-based community concern that the PMs won't find another way to get the info to us, we can revisit the subject.

But I really think it will be okay. Smile Serenity now. Wink

This is the PMs job. Not the players. If the players don't feel they can trust these PMs to take care of this, then taking matters into our own hands isn't going to save this game. I have total faith in these PMs and I know they will make it work for everyone.

I know I have been on my soapbox about this and I know it is tiresome. But I don't see this as a philosophical debate. If the players here cheat to get someone on the leader board, everyone will know about it. From then on, any player associated with ARGN or unfiction who makes it onto the leaderboard will be suspect. The assumption will be made that that player cheated. And we will be pissing off all of the other players. It could get really ugly at the tables.

I'm not sure how many times I have to repeat this:

Until we actually act, it's all merely philosophical.

So everyone calm down already. Rolling Eyes

Hey guys Smile

Almost a day left until chip reset and leaderboard invitations, but this thread isn't really helping us make a decision. I think the main reason is that there is no information to support that decision making process.

If the tournament is just for hardcore poker players, we don't want to cheat to get in. If ARG elements will be revealed, we don't want to miss them. But then again maybe the table will be open for viewers.

So maybe it's best to just step back a bit and trust that the PMs are actually smart and can see that no ARG players are in the leaderboard? It's not like there really is a dead guy called thedealer and he can't differentiate between us.

This thread is just leaning a bit towards unintended hostility. I don't see us making any decisions based on this conversation. Just don't worry about it and have faith in the PMs no matter what happens. (It's just a game at the end of the day)

I'll just lock this to avoid misunderstandings and move the focus back to the actual game Smile

Everyone is pretty Wink
