tinmanmoves.com Veeery iiinteresting. A friend of mine found a promo flyer for this site:
http://www.tinmanmoves.com
on campus at the University of Texas at Austin. The flyer apparently said "The tin man moves October 1st" or something to that extent.
Edit: The "partial solve" we thought we'd found was the result of the webmasters password protecting the domain at a coincidental time. Right now the whole thing is locked down. Don't know what to make of this yet.

Seems to be up, although says that due to limitations imposed by their server, the full site won't be up until later. From the site:
Quote:
What is The Tin Man?
The Tin Man is the prime mover behind TinManMoves.com, a new internet community based on total openness and honesty. TinManMoves.com provides an exciting new mode of expression and communication. Here's how it works: Whenever you have a thought, a revelation or deep insight about the world or about mankind, you are invited to come share it with The Tin Man. He will in turn share your thoughts with other users, who will have a chance to reflect on your words and, if they wish, respond to them. If you become a member, The Tin Man will send you an email every day containing the thoughts and feelings of one of your fellow users.

Sign up page is short and to the point. Doesn't ask for too much information, but a recuring error message leads me to think it might not be complete.
Not sure what to make of this just yet.
But the idea of what the site's "mission" is, certainly opens the possibility for a good story between characters/players, should this site actually be an ARG.
Definetly worth keeping an eye on.

No error message over here. Logged in and was taken to the member's area. I'm now investigating.

I'm not totally sure about 'sharing your feelings with other users.' Sounds to me like a evil group thinktank shrink feeding frenzy of feigned sensitivity and doom.

It gets even stranger when the website tries to describe what the Tin Man is.
Quote:
The short answer is that we don't know. Some theorize that he was an introverted man who wished for immortality and independence and is now spending eternity trapped in a metal shell, only now realizing the importance of human affection and connection. Others suggest that he was sent here from outer space to teach mankind how to get along. Many think of him as the very spirit of open communication, the symbol of humanity coming together and celebrating their ability to share.
Perhaps he was created by man long ago, a magnificent body with no heart to make him leap to life. That's where you come in. The Tin Man will come alive as people pour their hearts and souls out to him. For all that we don't know about The Tin Man, we do know that he needs each one of you to have a place to share your deepest thoughts and feelings. The Tin Man understands the complex and delicate beauty that lies inside each human mind. He needs that beauty to live. Every one of us has something to offer him.
He begins as an empty vessel who needs your help to become full, but as people reach out to him and to one another he will grow stronger and stronger, become fuller and fuller of the life you give him. He will become a marvelous companion, someone who can return the favor by helping you out in time of need.

and yeah, the Tin Man description is pretty freaky...
is it is an empty shell, then do the emotions power it?
im not sure that would be a good thing, with everyone probably sending their hates and sadnesses in.

Has anyone actually submitted an insight? I did, and I got a reply.
I submitted this last night:
Quote:
I think people should try to hold onto life for as long as possible, because, if the afterlife is better than this one it will be even more of a relief to get there arter eighty years or so. And if the afterlife turns out to suck, then at least you held onto what you had for as long as you could.
and I recieved this as a reply this morning
Quote:
An Insight has arrived from The Tin Man!
You have received the Response:
This world can be a great place to be, and I think people miss out on some things if they are always looking forward to some afterlife. Never lose your capacity to live for the moment.

I submitted about 11, most of them were rather sarcastic, so that could be a reason for not getting any replies.

I don't know, just sounds like a collaborative deep 'n' meaningful website to me, rather than anything ARGish. It has a touch of PostSecret or SoThere about it, but rather than post stuff that everyone can see, it's only visible to one other person.

Even if it isn't an ARG, its curious and cryptic enough for me to still be active in it.
EDIT: The Insight of The Day is up: More people love you than you realise, but they're
not always the people you'd expect to care.
EDIT DEUS: Just got a response from the Tin Man.
Quote:
Every day is a new day, do not dwell in the past
Then came the response.
Quote:
Dwell in the moment: that's where you live, anyway.
