Some definite in-jokes in the classifieds:
Quote:
Childcare desperately needed! We just had our second child, and we both have full time jobs! Childcare or live-in nanny wanted 5 days a week to help cook, clean, and entertain two wonderful children: a 6-year-old girl and a newborn boy. Must be fun-loving, reliable, and have good references. Contact Dale or Diana S. in the evening at (520)555-6463
It appears that Dale & Diana have left Aglaura and moved to Catalina.
Quote:
Beautiful downtown home for sale! This late 19th century victorian is a one-of-a-kind opportunity! Great view, 2 bed, 2 bath. A fixer-upper, the house was previously owned by an artist and has "graffiti" on all inside walls. Great price, $153,500! Call Phyl at (520)555-7272.
And it also appears that Phyllis Willingham and her house have also been transported to Catalina.
Quote:
Mystical mask for sale. This beautiful mask is rumored to have magical powers, but I don't really believe in any of that supernatural nonsense. Great price, call Iris at (520)555-9263 for details.
And I thought we got that damned mask away from Iris!

In the classifieds Tip o' the hat to Eric Henninger (trying to sell a car) and "Nancy C." trying to sell a boat nicknamed CM.
And plenty of references to CTW.
And by the way, women should boycott Cooper's Bar. The owner is a misogynist.

and some of the other inside jokes...
Quote:
Professor of Paranormal Sciences wanted for immediate teaching position at New River University. Apply in person to Dean of Faculty P. Samuel Mead. Call to set up a meeting time, (520)555-9474
sammead!
Quote:
Odd, antique piece of machinery. I can't tell what it does, but the words "Machina Universalis" are engraved on the side. Could be very valuable! Contact Poverus at (520)555-8463 for more information.
Timehunt has a replica of the Machina Universalis as a prize.
Quote:
Antique Roman coin for sale! This coin, displaying a chalice on the obverse and a pomegranate tree on the reverse, is valued at approximately $2,950. This coin is yours for only $2,200! Call Edward Sobiak at (520)555-7539.
Wow Ed Sobiak (Search4e) somehow got that CTW coin.

For Sale: Strange stone box containing green disk. The box has a green geometric "snowflake" design inlaid on the top of it. The disk contains some sort of "widget." Contact Eric Halverson, (520)555-7539.
Is this the CTW disk? Was that green? I also wonder if the "snowflake" design is in reference to our make a snowflake timewaster thread.

Cardiologist wanted at nearby hospital as soon as possible. Our last cardiologist was involved in a lawsuit for mistaking the left ventricle for the right ventricle, and we are looking for a replacement to start work immediately. Contact Janice at (520)555-4944 ext.289.
Which game was it that had the heart diagram? Was that CTW or S4E?

While I don't remember that particular item, the character "Eric Halverson" was from the short-lived game called Plexata...

Has anyone worked on the crossword puzzle found here
http://www.coyotedispatch.com/puzzles.html
some of the clues are actually pretty challenging, but anyway, one of them got me to thinking. 66 across, four-letter word for Fed. Agent = Gmen. Could that be GreyMen. Just an idea.

Well maybe, but it's a common (if dated) term for Government men.

I did the crossword puzzle last night and nothing really jumped out at me. It's a weird puzzle - some totally obscure NYTimes-ish clues, some really easy ones. Good though.

The Heart flash at Greatwater General had the ventricles mixed up (yes, CTW reference).

in Plexata, the Widget was a piece of software you ran on your desktop, which allowed you to submit answers. (or something like that)

Yep, I remember the widget, but it's the "stone box" with the "snowflake design" that is escaping my memory...

MY DISCOVERY: The next day, upon opening the package, he discovered an odd object made of what appeared to be ivory, with an inlaid figure that looked like a snowflake (Click here and here for pictures). Upon returning to the object later, Eric found that a tray had released from the object, containing a green disc (picture here). He decided to examine the objects the next day.
